I know we're all very fond of WWX being a rascal and wildly clamoring for LWJ's attention.

But the concept of LWJ making quiet (yet very determined!) bids for WWX's attention is so underrated.

It's particularly cute if LWJ starts doing that once they're already in a romantic relationship.

Like, he has JUST enough dignity to refrain from climbing into WWX's lap and wailing "pay attention to meeeee!"

But. Sometimes it's a close thing!

I think LWJ probably gives WWX a lot of Meaningful Looks that basically say, "I would like one (1) attention. Please dispense it at your earliest possible convenience."

He just shows up wherever WWX happens to be and just...lurks in the corner, staring hopefully at WWX.

Of course, if WWX notices, I am sure he gives LWJ lots of cuddles and hair ruffles. I'm sure he teases LWJ and kisses him. All is well!

But I'm also sure that there are times when WWX is hyperfixated on his work and he doesn't really register that LWJ is Lurking Pointedly Nearby.

And I think it's fun to imagine how long it would take for LWJ to cast aside his dignity.

How long would it take for him to tug on WWX's sleeve, or nudge WWX's foot, or cough meaningfully?

How long would it take before he just starts climbing all over WWX?

You know, on the grounds that his husband has been working for HOURS now, and LWJ has received NO kisses during that period, and this state of affairs is UNACCEPTABLE?

LWJ would like to speak to the MANAGER.

I'm picturing a post-canon scenario. WWX is absorbed with some kind of research or something. He's trying to solve a really finicky problem, and he's been fixated on it for DAYS.

LWJ drags him off for meals and baths and naps. But even when they're together, he can see that WWX is spacing out, thinking about his work. And WWX always scurries back to his study as quickly as possible.

Eventually, LWJ marches into the study with a Formal Document, from the Chief Cultivator to the Yiling Patriarch.

The Chief Cultivator has noticed a Marked Decrease in Kisses, and a shocking omission of Eating Dinner Together the previous night.

There have been no Connubial Activities in almost 36 hours.

The Chief Cultivator is shocked. Appalled. Outraged by the Yiling Patriarch's shameless dereliction of duties. He demands that this matter be addressed At Once.

The Yiling Patriarch is entreated to Consider His Duties As A Husband! The Chief Cultivator urges him to repent of his sins and changes his ways! Or else!

"Or else what?" WWX asks, once he stops shaking with laughter.

"Or else your husband will SULK," LWJ says.

He speaks with perfect gravity, using the exact same tone he always whips out for formal meetings.

...Anyway. Long story short: the perfidious Yiling Patriarch is immediately reformed and he rushes to cuddle his husband.

Peace in the cultivation world is restored, thanks to the tireless efforts of Hanguang-Jun. 🙏
