1. Never criticize your children in front of their friends

Instead of saying:
Don't do that >>> Try doing this instead.
Don't say that >>> Here's a different way of saying it.
You're stupid? >>> What did you expect to happen?

3. Hug and kiss your children a lot
I'll always treasure how both my parents (especially my dad) hugged us and kissed out constantly.
It made me feel loved, even when it made me uncomfortable when they expressed their affection in front of my friends

4. Let your kids choose their punishment.
Sometimes when I misbehaved, they "let me" choose my punishment.
EG: "X days without playing outside/TV/etc"
I still need to figure this one out.
But, somehow, my parents pulled this off.
I didn't feel judged when they did this.

5. Be part of something bigger together
My brother and I were part of a teen church group.
My parents got involved at the church to work with teenagers.
My parents joined the group. They took responsibility for its wellbeing.
I loved that they got involved.

6. Don't complain about your spouse to your kids
My parents NEVER complained about each other with me or my siblings.
They had their arguments privately.

But when they did, they apologized.
