“If you’re explaining, you’re losing”, paved the way for a Party whose entire notion of virtue could be broken down into “winning” vs. “losing”.

The takeaway is that there is no real downside to the GOP strategy of ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK, because neither they nor their base are constrained by honesty or critical thinking.

My contempt for Trump and his followers remains bottomless. If you still defend his behavior as President, there is something deeply wrong with you. If facts matter that little to you, then you simply cannot be trusted with the responsibility of adult decisions.
So I guess Liz Cheney is the first of the anti-Trump Republican old guard to throw her hat in the ring for 2024. It’ll be a test of how willing the collective GOP is to move beyond the Age of Trump. Based on the behavior of the base at large, I do not hold the highest hopes.
