In school they teach you should write in the passive voice.
It's more often than not not the best for the reader
Active voice:
- Is more persuasive
- More informal
- Easier to read
2. Use the correct adverb & adjective
You want to paint the most accurate scenario
Don't say: He was very tall for his age
Say: He was abnormally tall for his age
--
Don't say: We ran to catch the bus
Say: We rushed to catch the bus
3. Use simple words & short sentences
Nothing loses more attention than a big paragraph.
Write with words that are simple and comprehendible, and don't overextend your explanation with elements that don't add anything to your thinking process.
4. One-person oriented
Email is supposed to be a very personal channel
People want to receive emails from other people and feel they're having a one on one conversation.
Don't say: Hope you guys enjoyed this email
Say: Hope you enjoyed this email
5. Don't be vague, be precise
Don't just write things like:
"He achieved success very fast"
This has no context and people can't picture what success is.
Write:
"He turned his $978 initial investment into $9031 simply by re-selling snickers online"
