I get it. It can be harsh to log in into your email platform and see "1 unsubscriber today"
You'll probably go as far as rushing to see who he was.
But you shouldn't care, and here's why 👇
People who unsubscribe would never:
- Be buyers
- Add anything to your business
- Be the type of customers you want
Most of them:
- Either don't know why they're inside your list in the first place (freebie seeker)
- Simply don't resonate with the content (it's fine)
At the end of the day.
Your list, your rules. That's the great advantage of not being under any platform TOS.
You say what you want. You do what you want.
And those who resonate with you shall stay, buy, and make progress.
Those who don't shall leave.
Again, most people don't even know why they're inside your list in the first place.
That's why you shouldn't take it personal when someone leaves.
They most likely didn't do it because they hate your emails, but rather because they were not even reading them in the first place
Be yourself and overtime, you'll build a list of readers that cherishes what you write.
And be always proactive in attracting new readers.
Most unsubs will come in the first days of people in your list (from my experience)
So make sure you use your welcome sequence as a filter
That filter will:
- Make people either resonate or be repulsed by your personality
- Give a hint of what they can expect going forward
- Be inclusive based on your values and world-view
- Push unwanted subscribers away
At the end of the day, you don't wan to be paying more for your email service to have people on your list that:
