With news that a bipartisan 1/6 Commission may be in the works...

I wrote this👇(with @AREvers @justinhendrix).

1. Biden admin is *NOT* providing info to Congress.

2. We explain how legislation for the Commission can fix such problems.

On Weds, Chair of @OversightDems @RepMaloney
called out Biden Justice Dept on 1/6 investigation:

"Neither DOJ nor the FBI have produced a single piece of paper in response to the requests sent by six House Committees, including this one, in March. Not a single piece of paper."
Meanwhile...

House @HomelandDems @HomelandGOP Chair @BennieGThompson and Ranking Member @RepJohnKatko are trying to forge bipartisan agreement to set up a 1/6 Commission.

@LeaderHoyer characterized the discussions as "productive."

Recall there's been some Republican support for a J6 Commission -- including a bill introduced by @RodneyDavis with 30 GOP cosponsors -- and it looks remarkably similar to bill introduced by Dems and draft legislation circulated by @SpeakerPelosi.

2. DoD public timeline omits nature of explosive phone call in which senior Army officials rebuffed Capitol Police chief's plea for help.

Also, was acting Army Sec McCarthy on the call?

DoD and Lt. Gen. Piatt suggest he was; McCarthy (and commander Walker) say he was not.
3. Army first denied (strenuously and repeatedly) that Lt General Charles Flynn was on the call. Army and Flynn later admit he was on the call.

2. The Biden action is a significant turn away from Trump-era policy.

In March 2019, a #WhiteSupremacist terrorist live streamed his massacre of people at two mosques in New Zealand.

These dozens of democracies 👇 joined the call to action.

The Trump administration refused.
3. Both the FB Oversight Board and Biden Christchurch actions are based on #HumanRights law framing the decision.

On one hand: Freedom of expression (and right to receive information).

On other hand: Public safety, equality, non-discrimination, other rights (eg voting rights).

Washington Post scoop:

FBI gave #RonJohnson defensive briefing in 2020 warning he was being targeted by Russia to spread disinformation on Biden.

What did he do?

He considered it “completely useless and unnecessary”

With his usual paranoia, he thought FBI briefing was a trick
