THREAD: Drama Schools - please listen. If there is only one visible demographic on your Board, Senior Management, Senior Leadership Team, Faculty, Creative Team etc bringing in a diverse cohort of students into that environment is not safe! They will feel completely "othered"
The lip service of hearing we've tried to reach out to more diverse avenues is not good enough. Make the offer irresistible for people to turn down. Start from the top down. Evolve your practice to represent today's society before putting young students into the mix at grassroots
Set the trend in training institutions as that is what feeds into the industry. Use more inclusive writing, creatives, staff across all levels and the industry will follow! Be the change rather than saying you've tried! Some simple shifts are easy but takes proper effort!
Mistakes have been made but now move forward. Evolve with the world and what's happening in today's society and make the change you quote as saying you are doing actually happen! Diversity and Representation is including all, not just some. #EnoughIsEnough#RepresentationMatters
Been sitting on this one for a little while but now I'm doing more work within theatre organisations and drama schools regarding anti-racism and working in all white staff structures, there is no time like the present to get this message out there! #inclusion#antiracism
