Short Thread regarding todays episode of #TheDaily (@mikiebarb) w/ @michaelcrowley

No matter ones views of Netanyahu, it was frustrating to once again (2nd day in a row) see @nytimes only present one narrative & without any further context, placing all blame on Israel.
For starters, Bibi came to power after Arafat turned down a peace deal in '00, after Sharon handed Gaza back to the Palestinians (PA) in '05 & Hamas took it over in a bloody coup & started launching rockets, & after Abbas walked away from a peace deal in '08

Erekat on '08:
Then in '09, Obama got Netanyahu to do a 10 month settlement freeze just to try & restart negotiations, but Abbas refused to return to the negotiating table

So while Bibi did authorize settlement building in '10 when Biden was there, this was the backdrop
haaretz.com/1.5122924
Then in 2014, Abbas again rejected the Obama/Kerry framework for peace talks, as the Palestinian leader reportedly told Obama he would never recognize a Jewish State, abandon the ‘right of return,’ or commit to end of conflict

This is all to say, that Michael simply told one side of the story, without any context, and he painted the narrative he wanted to paint.

This is the EXACT problem with how many people cover the conflict, and all it does is lead to greater animosity & inflame the situation.

The attacks on Jews continue.

Pro-Palestinian protestors throw a bottle and spit on Jews eating in New York.

#EndJewHate #Antisemitism

What happened to all those apologists saying “antisemitism only happens with white nationalists” … pretty damn silent now. Can’t even get a tweet of condemnation. Can you give us even an Instagram story?
More video of Palestinian mobs terrorizing residents in New York and looking to attack Jews.

If anyone wants to know what life is like under #Hamas rule ... just two months ago they ruled that women need a male guardian’s approval to simply travel:

Not to mention, here are a few articles on what its like to be part of the LGBTQ+ community in #Gaza

@RashidaTlaib Instead of trying to be part of the solution, you are simply part of the problem and fomenting more violence instead of calling for calm.

Not only were there isolated attacks on both sides --- like this one of Palestinian youths beating up a Jew last night (& laughing):
@RashidaTlaib And this one of Palestinian youths beating up a women ...
@RashidaTlaib And this one of Palestinian youths kicking a Jewish man in the middle of the street

Palestinian leaders continue to instigate attacks against Jews in Jerusalem, just as Arafat did during the 2nd Intifada. It is a dangerous game.

The reason? Palestinian Authority leaders want Israel to not allow elections in East Jerusalem so the PA can cancel the elections
“A wall of armed, mounted police and barriers separated the extremist Jews’ rally from the Palestinians. The clash — which so many of them seemed to crave — was not going to arrive. The two sides were left to lob insults from behind ranks of police.” timesofisrael.com/in-jerusalem-p…

@WajahatAli Here is the true reality ... unrolled and below. threadreaderapp.com/thread/1363539…
@WajahatAli Thread: You have Palestinian leadership still fighting for all the land b/w the river & the sea, no matter how that effects their people.

Under Oslo Accords, the PA is responsible for healthcare of its people, including all vaccinations, for Palestinians in West Bank & Gaza
@WajahatAli Additionally, under Oslo & the Geneva Convention (to the extent it applies here), the two sides are to cooperate in fighting epidemics.

However, the PA cut ties with Israel, and never requested help in securing vaccines:

@DeanObeidallah THREAD: This is total nonsense and you are perpetuating a lie.

Under the Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority (PA) is responsible for healthcare of its people, including all vaccinations, for Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza.

The PA has been doing for nearly 30yrs.

@DeanObeidallah And then, as stipulated by the Oslo agreement, the Palestinian Authority did procure vaccines on their own and through the WHO:
