Breaking: #Taiwan reported 323 #COVID19 cases. They are researching how to simplify the process of reporting existing cases.
321 are local cases and 2 imported.
There are 400 additional cases. Total is 721 cases in Taiwan today.

400 additional local #COVID19 cases were those that were not able to be processed in time and the government has added them into the daily tally that came before today.
There are 2 more new deaths. A guy in 80 who died on May 20 and he was only identified as a confirmed case after he died.
CECC said they wanted to clarify the information about relevant cases and confirmed the rate of testing positive and after the government adjusted each day's actual numbers, they conclude that the outbreak is rather stable.
Chen said the highest rate of testing positive is on May 15, which is 6.3%, and these days is around 2.2% to 2.9%. There is no actual outbreak based on these trend but the number of counties spotting confirmed cases is still growing.
He said the epicenter is still in Taipei's Wanhua district and relevant districts that have a connection to Wanhua. Banqiao and Zhonghe are the two hotspots in New Taipei City.
Chen said it's very important to identify and report cases timely. He also said there are now more and more testing centers and centralized quarantine venues. He is calling on Taipei and New Taipei City to handle these patients.
The Executive Yuan is now calling on businesses and local government agencies to increase the number of WFH staff to half.
They are also asking Taipei and New Taipei government to increase the number of staff WFH based on their geographical location and the nature of their jobs.
Minister of Economics said #Taiwan's manufacturing industry is very important for Taiwan and the world, especially the semiconductor industry. SHe said it's important for these industries to keep operating.
She said the government has already shared the guidelines for businesses to keep operating amid the outbreak with unions and industry associations.
She said it's important for staff and employees to go to work in different shifts and business owners should discuss with their employees about how to best handle that.
Chen clarified that the number of additional 400 cases that came from the so-called "delayed report" were the result of simplified reporting process as well as the increased capacity to process tests.
The media continues to ask why the CECC doesn't just add all the 400 delayed cases to the 321 cases from today. Chen emphasized once again that the numbers represent an importance of the overall trend and it could create complication for understanding the real ...

As #WHA is scheduled to begin later today in Geneva, #Taiwan has once again not been invited to attend the assembly for @WHO. #Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu and Health Minister Chen Shih-chung expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision.
Chen said the resurgence of #COVID19 outbreak in #Taiwan reflects that there shouldn't be a loophole in the global fight against the pandemic and the world needs to share all the information and expertise to deal with the outbreak.
Wu said #China's claim that it has helped #Taiwan to participate in the @WHO is contradictory to the reality, and it is also against Taiwanese people's will.

Taiwan's Health Minister Chen Shih-Chong said the key indicators to consider whether to lower the #COVID19 alert level in #Taiwan is: the rate of positive test results, the changes in the number of confirmed cases and the overall trend of the spread of new confirmed cases.

After citizens reduce the opportunities to interact with one another, the chain of infection could hopefully be broken off. However, since the #COVID19 virus has roughly a 5 to 7 day window to start showing symptoms, the number of cases is supposed to drop after 7 days.

Ko said based on the rate of positive test results from the last few days, the slight uptick to 8.47% shows that the outbreak hasn't really slowed down and there is still certain level of community spread in the epicenter of Wanhua District or even within Taipei itself.
Ko said which is why he is ordering such blanketed and strict regulations as part of the automatic lockdown that many citizens have practiced since last week.
