A court in #HongKong handed down heavy sentences for several prominent pro-democracy figures in the city for participating in unauthorized assembly on October 1, 2019. Albert Ho, Figo Chan, Lee Cheuk-Yan, and Long Hair have all been sentenced to 18 months. hk01.com/%E7%A4%BE%E6%9…
Jimmy Lai, Avery Ng, Yeung Sum and Cyd Ho were sentenced to 14 months in jail. Sin Chung-kai and Richard Tsoi were sentenced to 14 months in jail and suspended for two years.
It's important to note that several of them, including Jimmy Lai, Lee Cheuk-yan and Yeung Sum also have other previous jail sentences on them. This reflects the new reality in #HongKong's judicial system, which is that authorities will pile several sentences on ...
... key pro-democracy individuals, forcing them to be imprisoned for a long period of time.
