#BombayHighCourt at Goa is hearing plea filed by Rahul Mhambre, convenor of AAP Goa raising grievances at the Super Specialty Block of Goa Medical College and hospital.
Hearing before Bench of Justices SC Gupte and MS Sonak.
Court: We will give you (State) time to respond. But we want to point out, two things, drinking water has to be provided. Movable screens for the patients have to be provided, this is a question of human dignity.
AG Devidas Pangam appearing for State:
First of all, I do not know what is the urgency in this. We will look into the grievances, but I am wondering how did he get access to the COVID ward.
Instead of moving the court for this, he could have approached us.
Court: Yes, even we agree. There was no such urgency in this. But since we were sitting for some other matter we thought might as well..
(To petitioner) This could have waited till Monday, this is not right on your part.
Adv J. Abreu Lobo for the Petitioner submits that the petitioners moved only for the purpose of drinking water and screens meant for changing/ cleaning of patients.
While we know the statements made by AG, we make it clear that the matter of provision of adequate number of screens needs to be particularly addressed. The hospital authority may install screens, necessary for privacy of the patient .
