"I would like to thank #Japan and Prime Minister @sugawitter for hosting the #COVAX AMC summit. Arigato gozaimasu. 🇯🇵 is a steadfast leader on global health, from universal health coverage to #COVID19"-@DrTedros#VaccinEquity
"A year ago, #COVAX began as a groundbreaking global partnership, pooling risk and driving equity. So far, we have delivered almost 78 million [#COVID19 vaccine] doses to 127 countries and economies since February – from remote islands to conflict zones"-@DrTedros#VaccinEquity
"But of the 1.8 billion #COVID19 vaccines administered globally, just 0.4% have been administered in low-income countries. This is ethically, epidemiologically and economically unacceptable"-@DrTedros#VaccinEquity
"At the #WHA74 last week, I called for a massive global effort to vaccinate at least 10% of the population of every country by the end of September, and at least 30% by the end of the year. #COVAX is key for achieving these targets"-@DrTedros#VaccinEquity
"We need:
1⃣doses to be shared right now through #COVAX
2⃣COVAX to be fully financed, to ensure a diverse portfolio that meets countries’ needs
3⃣export restrictions to be lifted
4⃣companies to prioritize COVAX
5⃣to support receiving countries to use doses immediately"-@DrTedros
"Countries with the highest #COVID19 vaccination coverage are now seeing a significant decline in cases & deaths. Investing in #COVAX is not charity. It’s the best investment in ending the pandemic & driving a truly global recovery"-@DrTedros#VaccinEquity
