Tesla is currently finishing the inside of the factory in Grünheide
Heavy machinery is being set up in the paint shop and the press shop
The employees are working under high pressure, with shifts working around the clock on the construction site businessinsider.de/wirtschaft/mob…
Brandenburg's Minister of Economics, Jörg Steinbach, is usually well informed about the progress on the construction site in Grünheide
The factory is "80 percent finished", he recently told the Tagesspiegel
And indeed, in the finished shell of the building, work is going on around the clock at a high pace
The US carmaker has had this intensity of construction approved by the state environmental agency :
- construction is allowed 24 hours a day in Grünheide
Tesla employees and the many subcontractors and suppliers are currently setting up heavy equipment in the production halls
- production machines in the press shop and paint shop
- and robots in final assembly
So things are moving forward in the factory itself
Musk wants more production depth in Grünheide
The factory is to produce more itself
- important plastic parts for the trim of the vehicles, for example, are to be manufactured in Grünheide itself
Musk has also called for a single production line instead of two at the site
There is still a lot of final finishing work to do in the surrounding area
For example, the rainwater basins have neither been approved nor built, the sewage pipes to Erkner are still being built, and the factory roads on the site have not yet been surfaced
All in all however, Musk has apparently been a little more relaxed lately about the progress in Grünheide
At least with politicians
- Minister of Economics Steinbach said that Musk used to call him more often when problems arose
And now ?
"Elon Musk rarely calls anymore"

The applications cite restaurant services, pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services and take-out restaurant services as possible uses, Bloomberg reported last week
The filings appear to be connected with an idea that Musk, the CEO and self-appointed "technoking" of Tesla, has tossed out to his Twitter followers several times in recent years
With the latest reports from China we are able to update our view on Q2 Production Scheduling
1. Line 1 is fully scheduled with 4 crews for 56,250 units per quarter or 18,750 units per month
- there is no room in the schedule for overtime
2. Line 2 is only 50% scheduled with 2 crews for 28,125 units per quarter or 9,375 units per month
- but this scheduling allows those crews to run overtime production
3. Line 2 appears to have been run with +20% overtime in APRIL by operating 6 days per week and 8 hours per day instead of 5 days per week and 8 hours per day
- the result was April production of 30,494 units as previously reported

The idea of the self-contained EV skateboard chassis has become so alluring that startups, suppliers and even automakers are marketing them as plug-and-play solutions on which customers can simply add a body, also called "top hat"
But like many catchy ideas on the path to electromobility, this one is also stumbling as it meets the hard reality of going from vision to vehicle development and manufacturing
An AutoForecast Solutions report covered by Car and Driver reveals the extent to which North American automakers have been impacted by the microchip shortage
Ford has taken 346,616 vehicles out of production while General Motors has reduced its total by 277,966
Vital for everything from a vehicle's onboard computer and infotainment system to important safety features like anti-lock breaks and stability control, the chips have been in short supply around the world for months
