As a very young, FOB in America, I remember watching 2000 Sydney Olympics, when Ethiopian athletes won their races, the broadcast cutting away to 1984/95 famine to remind viewers of the #Ethiopia they came from. My heart used to sink with embarrassment than joy.

During those days, I endured crude jokes about "famished Ethiopians", as if there is NOTHING more than that about a country and people, where I came from. That was also the time, #Ethiopia was invaded by the same man, #IsaiasAfwerki that's causing this misrey today

Since #Ethiopia came a long way. It successfully shade that horrible image, it became my pride. My people seemed capable to fend of anything daunting. It's leaders were respected & listened to in the world stages. The feared & seen with difference by it's neighbours

Alas!
What seemed #Ethiopia has left behind, hunger, war and misery came back to haunt it once again. Unlike the previous one, however this time was voluntary. It's people chose to embrace stupidity, hate and fascism. It chose to inflict maximum damage on their own.
