Finland v Russia: Russia come into this game having recorded the lowest xG from open play and zero big chances in matchday one. I wouldn’t let that influence my selection for this round though. Dzyuba is the obvious pick here - no player recorded more big chances and shots...
...in the box in the Euro qualifiers while according to @drafthound, he has one of the best odds to score this week too. Rightly so too, no team conceded more chances down the middle than Finland this week and that is exactly where Dzyuba’s threat is going to come from...
... Golovin playing behind the striker and Mario Fernandes playing as the advanced right wing-back are good outside shouts to own too.
Turkey v Wales: Turkey should edge this one but I would mostly stay clear of assets involved in this fixture. I expect Turkey to be far tighter at the back...
... than they were against Italy – Cakir, the goalkeeper, and Celik, the right back, could represent decent value for money given their price tags.
Italy v Switzerland: Italy looked like a well-oiled machine in the first game. I really like their assets because they are likely to represent great value. Spinazzola recorded 43 touches in the final third in the first matchday, which was the second highest among all defenders...
... His attacking threat along with the fact that Italy has a great chance of yet another clean sheet having already accumulated eight successive clean sheets as I write makes him an excellent pick. Berardi at his price is a no brainer, while I prefer Insigne...
... to Immobile despite the latter’s greater goal threat due to their price difference.
Ukraine v Macedonia: Ukraine presents us with a great group of differentials as we head into matchday two. They are one of the bookies favorites to keep a clean sheet this week, and my pick from their defence is Zinchenko who’s classified as a defender yet playing in central...
... midfield. Malinovskyi is an interesting one. He is likely to be on all set pieces including penalties and topped the charts for shots for Ukraine in the qualifying stages. I still prefer the attacking threat of Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk though, as they are likely to be...
... more direct. Yarmolenko, especially, has the best odds to score among all midfielders in the game so is a great shout to score.
Denmark v Belgium: I think this is likely to be a tricky game for both sides and one which will have a low ceiling for assets from either side. I’d go even far as saying that Lukaku might be worth swerving on a limitless chip this week as I don’t think the upside for his price...
... in this game alone will be too high. I’d ignore defensive assets from both sides here as I can see both teams scoring.
Netherlands v Austria: I’d still back Depay to come good despite the recent blank. For me, he is probably the best captaincy shout on the day when Netherlands play. Dumfries really impressed me. He accumulated the highest number of big chances of anyone to have played so...
... far, and recorded a very impressive 11 touches in the opposition touches in the penalty area. He was top among all defenders for touches in the final third to have played so far too so he’s definitely worth the premium.
Sweden v Slovakia: I’d expect Sweden to win here but I don’t think this game is likely to be too high scoring. Sweden created the fewest chances of all teams to have played so far while Slovakia looked defensively solid against Poland and conceded just the single big chance...
... Isak was very impressive against Spain and would expect more service from the likes of Forsberg given that Sweden are likely to adopt a more attacking approach. I still think that the likes of Yaremchuk and Dzyuba are better options though in a similar price range...
... Forsberg is a good shout as well given that he is likely to be given a more free role and will be on more set pieces. I think a Sweden defender here could be a shrewd pick – Danielson for his price could represent good value.
Croatia v Czech Republic: I think this is a game to avoid as far as Euro fantasy is concerned. I think both teams will score, while the goals will be spread around for Croatia. Schick enjoyed himself against Scotland, but I doubt that would be the case against Croatia.
England v Scotland: Scotland will be down on confidence after their loss against the Czech Republic which was seen on paper as a winnable game. England come into this game being the favorites for a clean sheet this week and being the second likeliest team to score...
... three or more goals this week. Harry Kane, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling are all explosive assets to own in this one. Foden particularly at his price looks incredible value.
Hungary v France: I believe this the fixture to target if you’re looking for a high ceiling given that France start as favorites of all teams to score three or more goals this week. Given that I don’t have a decent enough sample size to compare Griezmann, Benzema and Mbappe...
... all three when they have started together, I’ll trust the bookies odds for my selection. Mbappe and Griezmann look better picks than Benzema on the basis of that, and would be two of my picks if I was using a chip this week. Both Hernandez and Pavard from the defenders...
... are great picks given their attacking prowess. From the numbers I have, Hernandez is likely to have better assist potential while Pavard is better for goal threat. Take your pick!
Portugal v Germany: This a tough game to call. Given that premium price tag of both sets of players involved in the game, I would probably avoid all players from this one because there are more standout fixtures out there to target.
Spain v Poland: I’d still back Spain heavily here despite their recent draw against Sweden. Pau Torres and Unai Simon for their price represent incredible value. Spain had the highest xG this week but were unable to score due to a combination of some great goalkeeping from...
... Olsen and some poor finishing. I’d back them to come good here though. Dani Olmo had two big chances v Sweden, yet was unable to score. I’d back him to come good along with Ferran Torres who despite his recent blank continues to be a good pick.
