Getting people to read your work is hard.

You spend hours researching, writing, editing, battling impostor syndrome & procrastination...

And when you finally hit publish:

πŸ¦— Crickets πŸ¦—

Don't panic.

You can solve this today by using this simple copywriting formula:
PAS is a 3-step, time-tested framework that works like magic.

The best copywriters have used it for decades

to create attention-grabbing ads & sales pages

that sold billions of dollars in products.
It doesn't matter if you're not writing copy for a sales page or an ad, though.

Whatever you write, you can use PAS to make it more powerful.

The best part?

This framework will not only help increase your viewership & engagement...

But also write faster & more confidently.
PAS stands for Problem, Agitate, Solve.

This how you do it:

1. Address one of your readers' most painful problems

2. Rub some salt in the wound to agitate them

3. Use your content to help them solve the issue

Let's break down each step:
Most people start by looking for content ideas.

This is the WRONG approach.

You should identify your reader's biggest problems first...

And then come up with content ideas to help them solve them.

This way, you ensure that your content is actually valuable for your reader.
How do you find your audience's problems?

By doing your homework:

β€’ Figure out where they hang out
β€’ Embed yourself in their community
β€’ Listen & engage with them every day

There's no workaround.

If you want to learn how to do this effectively, read @arvidkhal's book:
Once you really understand your reader's most painful problem...

You can start thinking of ways to help them solve it with your content.

That's how you create value.

But wait...

Before you give them the answer, you need to agitate the problem.
The goal of agitating the problem is to create urgency.

Without urgency, people WON'T read your stuff.

To agitate:

β€’ Explain the logical consequences of inaction

β€’ Use a story to illustrate these consequences

β€’ Tap into your reader's goals & emotions
After agitating the problem, it's time to deliver a solution.

Be careful, though.

The fact that you've completed the first 2 steps successfully...

Doesn't mean you don't have to worry about executing this last step right.
Make sure your content is clear, specific & actionable

Otherwise, your reader will feel tricked & you'll lose their trust.

To deliver your solution in a clear & compelling way...

Use Hemingway's 4 rules for writing well:

Writing well is the highest-leverage skill of the 21st century.

Not sure how to apply PAS yet?

Here are 3 great examples where you can see it in action:

Not sure if it works yet?

The PAS formula is rooted in deep human psychology.

People are more likely to act to avoid pain than to get gain.

If you do your homework & put in the reps, you'll start noticing the progress - I promise!

Twitter changed my life forever.

In just 1 year, I:

β€’ Built an audience
β€’ Sold my 1st product
β€’ Made dozens of friends
β€’ Landed the coolest gig ever

The same can happen to you if...

You learn how to use Twitter to connect with like-minded folks.

Here's how you do it:
The quality of your Twitter experience depends on the people you follow.

To curate your feed,

Seek out:

β€’ Peers on a similar journey
β€’ Positive, generous mentors

Avoid:

β€’ Following too many people
β€’ News, politics, drama and gossip
The same way you curate your feed, you also want to curate your followers.

Treat your profile real state (bio, banner, pinned tweet) as a landing page.

Your goal is not only increasing your follower count...

But also making sure you’re attracting the right people.

Hemingway was one of the most successful fiction writers of his time.

But he could've also been a tremendous business writer.

His 4 rules for writing are a recipe for crafting a clear, potent message.

Here's how you can use them to produce 10x better content:
Hemingway’s 4 rules for great writing:

1. Use short sentences
2. Use vigorous English
3. Be positive, not negative
4. Use short first paragraphs

Let’s break down each one of them.
Short sentences are easy to understand.

Long, wordy sentences, on the other hand, are clunky, confusing and complicated.

See the difference?

To keep your sentences tight, use:

β€’ Shorter words
β€’ Fewer adjectives
β€’ More "." than ","
β€’ 1 sentence for each idea

"Show, don't tell" is not just great writing advice...

It's also great career advice.

When Nora Ephron passed away in 2012, she'd become one of most successful writers & filmmakers of her time.

Wanna know how she landed her first job as a writer?

Hint: She didn't apply

🧡
Born in NYC, Nora was raised in Beverly Hills, California.

As a high school student, though, she always dreamed of moving back to NYC to become an accomplished writer.

Probably because both of her parents were noted writers.
4 years later, after graduating from college and doing an internship at the White House,

She moved back to NYC and applied to be a writer at Newsweek magazine.

But they "didn't hire women writers" at the time.

So she ended up accepting a position as a mail girl.
