Finally, someone pushes back not only on Trump’s misinformation, but also on Chris Krebs’s misinformation. I would not go quite as far as Halderman. I believe certain aspects were more secure than before (eg, voter registration systems), but that vote tallies remained exposed. 2/
The vulnerability of vote tallies was especially pronounced for races OTHER THAN the race for President bc most of those races are not audited at all. The presidential race received far more scrutiny. 3/
As explained by Halderman, we endanger the next election if we deceive ourselves that US elections are more secure than they are. 4/
I made this same point to Chris Krebs, a Republican, who responded by blocking me. We are losing our grasp of the truth. Yes, the far right is further gone. But it is happening in the middle and on the left too, and it’s really dangerous imo. 5/

9/ We are in grave danger. Look down ballot at the “blue wave” that turned into a red wave. We are on life support. Were any of these races audited meaningfully (or at all)? What about Dem senate losses in Maine, NC, etc? Dem state losses? Very unlikely. #ElectionSecurityNow
