The List Plus One!

After months of intermittent, chaotic effort, I got a phone call from our local Republican Party Chairman, and he was awesome! That inspired me to read this book by Dan Schultz and you should too.

2) I'm sure I'll end up reading everything Dan Schultz has published. Silly me, you all probably know him from his visits to Steve Bannon's War Room, and other such fame and contribution. In case not, here's his website:

3) If you check it out, Dan published this book in 2010. It's more a pamphlet than a book at just 47 pages. The case is simple, yet profound. It is built on American Revolutionary logic. Here is the logic:

Citizen = Sovereign
Elected Official = Hired Servant

4) The extremely simple fact that our elected officials have close to if not NO fear of us as their Sovereigns is demonstrated by an hellacious number. Here it is:

5) Not knowing Dan's work well, yet, I don't know if elsewhere he tackles the economics. He doesn't in this little book, and I feel I have to lay it out in its obviousness. Once elected, you have the power of the vote, which is a very easily traded benefit, for cash, etc.

6) Our current great example is Judas Pence. He just traded in his function as President Pro Temp of the Senate for a multi-million dollar book deal, and I promise you, no one thinks the book will sell. That has nothing to do with this.

7) When you read Dan's book, you learn that the path to political power couldn't be easier. If you're interested, just go do it. You can get to a place where you have the power of the vote. Now, I don't think Dan is quite the cynic I am. But easy power for easy cash is real.

8) Dan's book is the opposite of cynicism. It is a clarion call to our moral duty as citizens to get involved. And again, his logic is both crystal clear and irrefutable. Inert citizens cannot protect our keep our republic. To save America, we must act. Not just talk, act.

9) He tells us what action means. It means that if you're a Republican, you MUST become a Precinct Committeeman. At his website, he says this:

"Precinct committeemen are today’s political Minutemen."

10) I won't attempt to recapture all of Dan's logic. I'll just tell you this. I believe that between my conversation with my local Party Chair yesterday, and reading Dan's book last night, I now know the action I must take. I'll share in a moment, but must discuss sheriffs first.

11) If you follow my reading list, and my own work, you're aware of my recent sheriffs focus. I attempted and failed - and must therefore report it to you - to commence a sheriffs support project. I haven't given up yet, but I also haven't succeeded yet, either.

12) Sheriffs are the highest Law Enforcement Officials in our land, who are both elected to office - and therefore obligated to We The People - and have sworn an oath to serve and defend our Constitution. Operating at the County level, they are OUR servants, locally.

13) What I discovered in the first stage of my project was this. They're very busy. Emotional support does almost nothing for them. I have no political clout and the time they spent with me was more them being nice to me than me doing anything for them.

14) My vision for the 3,000 or so counties in the US, and of supporting our Constitutional Sheriffs in those counties remains. It's critical. It's just outside my personal reach for the moment. So, I've called failure on the first stage and have now shared that with you.

15) I've already extensively analyzed my failure in the recent Virginia Democratic Primary. I hoped to #DefeatMcAuliffeNow. But each failure holds, within, the gift of learning. And that's what I feel Dan Schultz' book has now truly empowered.

16) Why did both of my first local projects fail? Because I'm not actually invested as a citizen. I'm not a Precinct Committeeman. I don't participate in local Republican activities. I'm outside the citizenship zone, locally. That I Tweet does NOT cover local contribution.

17) So then, what will I do about all that? I believe I have my answer. My new friend, our local Party Chair told me yesterday that monthly Republican Party Breakfasts will commence again in July. I'm going to go. I won't go every month but will more often than not.

19) Precinct Maps are a thing. Wow! Now that's something I can work with. We already know that 50% of Precincts do NOT have a Committeeman. Now THAT is where I can do some damage. Ha! I know how to recruit. That's what I can DO. I can recruit Precinct Committeemen. I shall.

21) Simply due to my life, I can't be a Precinct Committeeman myself. But I can recruit them. Let's talk about that. Let's imagine my precinct has no committeeman. All I need are 10 prospects. I know how to do this. Here are how the numbers will work.

22) Of the 10 candidates, I will really NOT be able to communicate with 2, at all. They won't like me, nor me them. It's just how it is. There will be 6 where we'll have a great conversation but it won't go anywhere. Let's focus on that a bit more.

23) Of the 6 in the middle, here, 3 will be, well, more boring than meaningful, but okay. The other 3 will be cool, fun, just not have that bite or edge to them where action results. But those 3 will be really good people, for sure. Just not ready, yet, if ever.

24) Ah, but there will be the last set of 2 who will be SIMPLY AWESOME people. They'll have been waiting to be asked. They'll be ready to dive in at some level. Does that mean that just 10 conversations guarantees a new committeeman? No. I'll explain.

25) To guarantee a new committeeman, I'd have to literally have 100 prospects, broken into 10 groups of 10. My numbers are almost never that bad. But being conservative, that's what I'd need to guarantee an outcome. Dive deeper with me.

26) On a mission of this nature with Americans and especially Republicans being such GREAT people, I really am most likely to succeed out of my 1st group of 10. The 2nd will likely double probability of success. It's almost impossible I'd need more than 30 prospects. Make Sense?

27) Mind, that's 30 prospects for just ONE precinct. I don't know how many times I'd be able to replicate the process, personally. But that doesn't matter. With Dan Schultz' incredible work, and with the good people of the Party itself, we can master this art of recruitment.

28) Go figure. I blundered as a coach, without ever having been a recruiter, into the recruiting industry in 1993. You should check me out, too. I'm the best recruiting coach in the world. I get recruiting.
