Instead of going Berlin-Wien (NightJet) and Wien-Budapest (RailJet), there is an alternative...
Berlin-München (DB ICE) and München-Budapest (EuroNight)

But my ticket is not going to be valid on that alternative connection...
Now DB-ÖBB collaboration has generally been good in the past, so it *might* work. But had this been two other rail operators, I am not so sure...

There are other options as well
The train could be routed via Brno instead - slightly longer, but avoiding the damaged track (I think)
Or possibly everything is repaired by Monday

I am well placed to be able to solve this, one way or another. And I am pretty sure that I'll get to my destination. But it's going to be interesting to observe what information (if any) is provided to me by the ticket sellers about this one!
This trip to Belgrade is turning into one long case study of the headaches faced by European railways... which is just perfect, as my talk in the Serbian capital is about sustainable transport!
