“GOP strategist Patrick Bainter operates in shadows”
The Florida GOP has “dominated statewide politics for the past two decades, despite Ds having the advantage in the # of registered voters in Florida.” 1/ jacksonville.com/news/20190119/…
2/ Bainter was involved in Florida’s 2012 gerrymandering scandal.
3/ “‘Bainter … acted in concert with the Legislature to produce individual districts & an overall redistricting map favorable to the Republican Party…, in violation of the Florida Constitution redistricting standards,’ an opinion by Florida Supreme Court…said.”
4/ Bainter’s company, Data Targeting, Inc. was involved in three Florida senate races w/ suspect NPA candidates. h/t @gal_suburban
7/ “Data Targeting Inc., run by longtime operative Pat Bainter, was served a subpoena related to the case of the no-party candidate who ran in [Florida] Senate District 37.” - 6/11/21 tampabay.com/news/florida-p…
8/ “Gainesville political firm [Data Targeting, Inc.] dragged into South Florida election fraud case “ - 6/16/21 gainesville.com/story/news/pol…
9/ So far, only one “ghost candidate” state race in Florida has resulted in criminal charges. But as posted by @gal_suburban, there are at least two more worth reviewing.
12/ AIF (run by Tom Feeney, Jeb Bush’s former running mate) may be involved with all three suspect NPA cases too.
13/ Clinton Curtis, a former Republican computer programmer for a NASA contractor once testified to Congress that Tom Feeney had asked him to design a vote flipping program for South Florida, although this cld not be corroborated. bradblog.com/?p=3630
16/ Seminole county, Florida (Joel Greenberg’s former turf) is so corrupt, lazy, or inept that it won’t even investigate the suspicious NPA senate candidate situation there. So @orlandosentinel is doing it for them. Thread about that. threadreaderapp.com/thread/1407895…
17/ It seems that Matt Gaetz may have been involved in the suspicious NPA candidate situation in Florida too. One of the NPA candidates promptly fled (I mean moved) to Sweden. 😳
21/ I highly recommend following @orlandosentinel for more on this ever-widening scandal regarding third-party candidates planted by Florida’s GOP in state (and perhaps county) races. Support local journalism. TY.
23/ It’s not just Florida. The GOP apparently uses fake independent candidates to steal elections in Minnesota too.
Pro-marijuana candidate Adam Weeks reportedly said GOP recruited him to ‘pull votes away’ from Democrats” 10/29/20 h/t @debinmplscbsnews.com/news/adam-week…
Mike Ertel, recipient of suspicious $60k contract from former Seminole tax collector Joel Greenberg, returned to the Seminole county elections office after black face scandal ended his stint as Florida Secty of State. He had been appointed by “Don’t monkey it up” DeSantis. 1/
And she won’t say a damn thing about Georgia’s risky use of Ballot Marking Devices for all in person voters (with no in person option 4 #handmarkedpaperballots) & how Georgia plans to audit only ONE RACE every TWO YEARS chosen by the Secretary of State. #gapol
The DOJ’s voting rights suit against Georgia does not address the parts of GA’s new law allowing a GOP takeover of bipartisan county election boards. Thankfully, a suit filed by @MarilynRMarks1’s nonprofit @CoalitionGoodGv does address them. #gapol 1/
If you support @CoalitionGoodGv, it will help them fight the provisions of Georgia’s new law allowing a GOP takeover of bipartisan county election boards. I’m not affiliated w/ CGC; I’m just grateful 4 their unique & important work. TY! #SB202#gapol 2/ coalitionforgoodgovernance.org/donate/
You can watch the full interview here. @MarilynRMarks1 describes how the takeover provisions can be abused and the bases for her nonprofit’s legal challenge. 3/

If Georgia’s new county election board takeover provisions concern you, pls support @CoalitionGoodGv, which is the only organization challenging them in court. Otherwise, we will likely be stuck with those provisions. Note that @ReverendWarnock is up for re-election in 2022. 2/

The DOJ’s lawsuit against Georgia’s voter suppression bill is crucial. But it does not address the election board takeover provisions. The only lawsuit that does was filed by @MarilynRMarks1 & her nonprofit @CoalitionGoodGv. 1/
For those who are interested in the legal grounds for her challenge of SB202 and related details, here is the full interview. In my opinion, her legal theories are brilliant. 2/
3/ You can support Marilyn Marks's nonprofit, the Coalition for Good Governance (CGC), here. They are doing truly remarkable work. It was the CGC that obtained the landmark ruling that Georgia's old paperless voting machines were unconstitutional. coalitionforgoodgovernance.org/donate/
There are now 8 lawsuits challenging Georgia's voter suppression bill (SB202), including the new DOJ lawsuit.
"We are the only one addressing what we think is the most dangerous provision of SB202, the [election board] takeover provisions." - @MarilynRMarks1#SB202#gapol 1/
2/ You can listen to my full interview of @MarilynRMarks1 of @CoalitionGoodGv
here. We discuss her lawsuit challenging the takeover provisions and other aspects of SB202. Again, hers is the only suit challenging those provisions. The DOJ lawsuit does not.
