Right, here we go. #SUI 3-1 #FRA Shaqiri to score 2
Wow!
Well
Oh well
And oh well oh well
Back to normality
And I guess that's it. They should have stopped the game at half time
I never seriously rated #SUI . But wow, they've proved me wrong
Someone just reminded me that #FRA #SUI follows the pattern of #CRO #ESP so far
Fabian Schär is a defender, on for an attacker. I hope they're not playing for penalties
Great save by the Vaudois, Sommer
Wow! Just wow! The Vaudois does it again!
Sommer is close to tears on Swiss TV after that save

A useful document on the UK’s position. Joining #CPTPP is fine on the right terms

But let’s not kid ourselves. It’s no substitute for trade with the EU

Post-Brexit, why is “CPTPP, unlike EU” repeated throughout?

It’s another trade deal, like UK-EU. Not either/or. Get over it
Yesterday the WTO’s Regional Trade Agreements Committee looked at the #CPTPP ⬇️

Will the 🇬🇧 UK-Australia 🇦🇺 trade agrement do what has been claimed?

“British farmers will be protected by a cap on tariff-free imports for 15 years” the UK International Trade Department said.

A look at the details shows that is not quite true

1/10 tradebetablog.wordpress.com/2021/06/18/uk-…
The detail shows that in only two cases (beef, sheepmeat) is the protection for 15 yrs, and even then the impact of a “cap” is not what it might seem at first sight. For rice, dairy products and sugar, the protection is for zero, five or eight years.

2/10 tradebetablog.wordpress.com/2021/06/18/uk-…
To assess the impact, we need to look at

• the starting point (2021 tariffs and quotas)
• the size and expansion rate of the quotas
• how the in-quota tariff compares with the starting point
• what the out-of-quota or safeguard tariff is

What do we know about the “cap on tariff-free imports” into the UK 🇬🇧 from Australia 🇦🇺 under the free trade agreement?

A bit, but not much. Mostly what has been announced in press releases from the two countries.

And incidentally, this thread ⬇️ needs correcting.

1/14
It’s an “agreement-in-principle”, done now BEFORE the negotiations are finished, politics wanted something on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.

But there is information on those imports of farm goods. @DmitryOpines has had a go.

2/14
But there’s more, and I need to correct this:

Many of the present tariff quotas are not duty-free, just lower-than normal tariffs within the quota limits.

So note, in many cases Australian imports get an in-quota tariff cut too
