Watched this recent interview of @SamitVartak sir with @PMS_AIF_World. Brilliant interview. Always learn so much from Samit sirs public sharing. My key takeaways:
1. When Samit sir was in US, he spent a lot of time advising manufacturing businesses on how to have a good operating structure limit costs and maximize profits. So his edge is business understanding.
My thoughts:
This is one of the key things I've learned from Samit sir and other fellow investors, it is most important to understand the business and focus on compouding that knowledge by incrementally understanding more businesses rather than get bogged down by valuations.
Instead of thinking: this 60 pe stock looks too expensive, thinking should be: why is this stock at 60 pe. What does that say about the owners expectations of the business and are those expectations justified?
2. Long term wealth compounding can only happen when earnings compound. This is why sageone looks for companies which can double their earnings in 3-4 years. Valuation rerating of beaten down stocks is more like trading. Can't compound wealth.
My thoughts:
This is another thing I've constantly heard Samit sir say over the years and has definitely influenced my own investment style (for the better I hope). Many instances where I replaced companies which might have a pop in valuation but no earnings growth visibility...
With companies which have both (I'm demanding that way, want undervaluation and also strong earnings growth).
3. Sageone has a lowest investment thereshold of 2cr which is above the 50 lakh lowest limit set by sebi because they have observed that when ticket size is reduced, it does not grow aum that much (Pareto principle) but does cause them to spend more time managing investors rather
... than their investments. Also, Samit sir always wants to keep interests aligned between investors and sageone. This is why they stopped taking capital in small and microcap fund because a very large aum becomes harder to deploy.
My thoughts:
Remarkable ethics and something I personally find very admirable.

This also demonstrated to me areas of inefficiencies in the market. Samit sir says if I needed to deploy only my own money i could even deploy it in a 300cr mcap company.
And therein lies the area of inefficiencies in the market. Even a pms fund can't touch these microcaps which is why I love investing in microcaps. Of course it's a mine field, low liquidity, but to the investor willing to do their research, leave alone 99% of the companies
Which do not meet investment criterion, and only focus on those very limited ideas where all good traits are aligning, the risk reward equation is very favorable.
Do watch the full video which is a must watch imo:

On popular demand and @LuckyInvest_AK sir’s guidance, here is the thread to understand the business of #mastek
If you find it useful, please retweet _/\_ so that other investors can also benefit. Image
@LuckyInvest_AK Before mastek, let us understand the industry it operates in. Broadly speaking, the IT industry is an enabler for all businesses, automating those business tasks for them which are somewhat incidental to the core business. As an example, consider #ITC & their ITC store.
@LuckyInvest_AK ITC has its own ecommerce store from which products are ordered. Building out this IT product: the backend & the app, are incidental to the core business (FMCG brands) of ITC. Some companies choose to build and maintain in-house IT teams. Others, outsource it to IT companies.

Q4 results. My key takeaways:
1. Medium term guidance of mid teen growth and no margin expansion.
Reading b/w the lines:
Co is investing heavily in upgrading and upskilling people, processes, creating capacities all with a focus on changing the terminal value of the business. Trading off Short term pain for long term gain: necessary characteristic for both co & investors.
2. Sequent 2.0 vision: Being executed under guidance of advisory board.
In b/w lines:
Co is upgrading itself from a branded generics player to a specialty branded generics player. Think of a Pikachu to Raichu Evolution.
Evolution takes effort, up front investments. Image

Which #microcap company should I create the next thread about? Follow the thread to vote!

Please read their screener.in pages and company websites before deciding. I'll also add a few lines for those who don't want to do that.
1. RACL geartech
A precision gear manufacturer (Soma Comstar rings a bell?) supplying to BMW, kubota, Yamaha, KTM. Sticky client relationship built over years. Aiming to grow topline from 180cr to 500cr in next 4 years. Industry leading margins of 15-20%. EV unlikely to disrupt.
Co is also undertaking 50cr capex which is likely to commence soon.
High precision gears are requirement for EV so that noise levels are low since RPM and torque are higher. RACL could benefit on margins whenever clients move to EV.

#neulandlab 🌋🌋 read on to understand this company and its story of transformation. On twitter, 🌋 has become synonymous with neuland, and this is how i will use it throughout the thread. If you like the thread, plz retweet & help fellow investors learn
Starting with a simple primer on the Pharma industry. They make medicines for all of us. The part of the medicine which gives it its potency against the ailment it cures is called API: Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient:

(here is a reference few people will get, but have to make it since I love it :D):
If Guardians of the globe (imagecomics.fandom.com/wiki/Guardians…) were a medicine, Omniman (imagecomics.fandom.com/wiki/Nolan_Gra…) is the API.
