Story 30- is about how Bhagwan Shiva came as a cheif soilder along with Shiva ganas as soilders for his devotee Soundara Samanthan

Kulabhooshana Pandyan ruled Madurai Kingdom.His army commander was Soundara Samanthan.He was a very brave man and was a devotee of Bhagwan Shiva.
He did selfless service to Sivanadiyars.There lived a hunter Sendirayan - he was chief of the hunter community.He was a terror

And many victories made him arrogant.He was planning to attack the Pandya kingdom. Kulabhooshana Pandyan got this news from his spy network.He wanted to strengthen his army by recruiting new people.So he gave his army commander Soundara Samanthan this task.

Kulabhooshana Pandyan asked Soundara Samanthan to take required gold & other things whenever needed from his treasury.Soundara Samanthan brought some gold coins from treasury to start recuirting people for army.But when he saw gold coins,he thought of spending for Shiva pooja.

Also he started spending the gold for service of Sivanadiyars & temple mandapam construction.He didn't work towards adding people to army as instructed by Raja. Kulabhooshana Pandyan got the news activities of Samanthan from his spies. Samanthan put up an act of being busy.

recruiting people to army.He sent of fake messages to people asking them to join Pandyan's army.He knew that these messages will never reach anyone.So no one will join the army.He continued taking gold from Raja's treasury & spent it in service of Sivanadiyars.

One day Pandyan asked Soundara Samanthan to show all the new people whom he recruited the next day evening.Soundara Samanthan was shocked & he didnt know what to do as he didn't recuirt anyone.He went to Shiva Alayam,prayed & surrendered to Sundareswarar to help him.

As he spend the money and gold in service of Sivanadiyars,he heard a voice.Bhagwan Shiva told him not to worry,and told that he himself will come along with soilders.

Samanthan was relieved &he went to Raja's court next day and informed about arrival of newly recuirted soliders.

Raja kulabhooshana Pandyan along with Samanthan & others waited for the soilders arrival.Bhagwan Shiva came as cheif soilder followed by many soilders.Samanthan understood that Bhagwan Shiva has brought ganas as soilders.Raja was delighted to see their display of strength.

He called the cheif soilder who directed the rest & gifted him with gold coins & ornaments not knowing that was Bhagwan Shiva.He was very happy with the work done by Samanthan as well.At that time,one of raja's spies arrived with the news about Sendirayan.

Raja got the news that Sendirayan,the cheif of hunters was killed by a tiger during hunting.Raja was very happy& he asked Samanthan to send the new soilders back to their native places,if situation arises they might need their support. Samanthan informed the same to the soilders.

All of a sudden,all soilders disappeared.Kulabhooshana pandyan was shocked &he realised this was act of Bhagwan Shiva.Then Samanthan explained Raja about whatever happened.Raja was impressed &told Samanthan that if Bhagwan Shiva has been this merciful to you,then you are my god.

Raja rewarded Soundara Samanthan.He prayed to Bhagwan Shiva for being merciful & ruled the kingdom without any worry.
