I’m a critical care doctor in Sumner County, and I have spent the last year and a half treating patients on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
I have witnessed hundreds of deaths from #COVID19, and each one has been painful and personal. While all are tragic, the deaths occurring now are particularly painful because they are preventable with a free, safe, and simple #vaccine. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
I'm still haunted by one case. Our team had to call a young girl, only english speaker in her family, in the middle of the night and tell her that her dad died. I have a daughter her age -- i will never forget the anguish in that moment. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
And it's those stories, and the dozens of others, that I could recite in painful and vivid detail, that compel me to speak out against @GovBillLee's political attacks on public health that endanger Tennessean lives…. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Because suffering like this is entirely, completely avoidable. and @GovBillLee has repeatedly undermined health professionals, abdicating his responsibility to lead #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Bill Lee's “fend for yourself” approach shifted the burden to mayors, parents, and business owners - and failed. We have had one of the worst outbreaks in the country. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
That's why I'm joining my colleagues in calling on the @TheJusticeDept to launch an investigation into TN Gov. Bill Lee’s reckless misconduct & abuse of his office that is endangering lives, and endangers our state’s economic recovery. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
No matter where we live, the color of our skin, or our politics, we have seen over the last year how the health of one person affects the health of the person next to them and the person next to that person. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Instead of going “all in” for all of us so that we could get through #COVID19 together, TN Gov. Bill Lee has undermined the medical community, suppressed vital life saving health guidance, and now #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
he has fired the state's lead physician, Dr. Michelle Fiscus, simply for doing her job, educating the public on vaccine-preventable diseases and immunization programs at the Tennessee Department of Health. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
The results of Bill Lee’s reckless misconduct and abuse of office have prolonged the COVID-19 crisis and led to entirely avoidable school and business closures, and entirely avoidable hospitalizations and deaths. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Now, as most of the country successfully increases vaccinations, aiding their own economic recovery while protecting the most vulnerable, Bill Lee is further politicizing the health crisis and endangering Tennessean lives and jobs. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Tennessee now lags the country in vaccinations, as the dangerous “Delta” variant spreads and school reopening approaches. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Instead of doing his part to help schools reopen safely, Bill Lee has instructed the health department not only to suppress health guidance on COVID-19, but suppress vital, life-saving, public health guidance on all preventable diseases. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
This extremist partisan attack on public health and safety must stop. I am pleading. @TheJusticeDept: please investigate Bill Lee’s reckless misconduct and mismanagement of public health and safety that is endangering the Tennessean lives. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
My colleagues and I took an oath to protect and save lives. We have spent the last year working with nurses, other doctors and families to try and do just that. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
Today, with entirely safe, reliable #COVID19 vaccines available, countless studies showing masks work, the greatest threat to the health & wellbeing of TN lives and our recovery, is Bill Lee’s political attacks on public health and safety. #StandWithDrFiscus#VaccinesSaveLives
What will it take for you to #doYOURpart@GovBillLee and stop the political attacks on the health and wellbeing of Tennesseans?

According to the US census, over 835,000 Tennesseans don’t have health insurance.
Tennessee is second in the nation in hospital closures, disproportionately affecting our rural communities.
Tennessee rates 40th in the nation when it comes to states with the best healthcare.
The system currently in place is delivering these results
Unless we change the system, the outcomes will remain the same
We can do better Tennessee
We need immediate expansion of medicaid.
It makes financial sense. We have missed out on BILLIONS of federal dollars which could have been used to expand access to healthcare by 1) increasing the number insured and 2) providing financial support in rural and underserved areas
