Govt has announced they’ve FINALLY agreed to a proper information campaign. They’ve said they’ll make sure we ALL know what is happening to our GP data. We really, really hope it happens but we’re certainly not taking their word for it. We will be watching 👀 - so stay tuned!
This is a big win for everyone involved in the campaign to stop the NHS Data Grab, especially our partners @allthecitizens @NPCUK @openDemocracy @DAUK_GP @JustTreatment and @DavidDavisMP
But it still isn’t over. We’ve got to this point through people power and a legal threat. Now we have to keep the pressure on to make sure any system that gets built is safe, open, and doesn't leave the NHS exposed to private companies making a profit out of our data
Millions of you have already opted out (thanks to support from our friends @medConfidential) and we know for lots of you that’s over fears companies will exploit the NHS to make a profit. If govt want people to opt back in, they’re going to have to address those concerns properly
The devil is going to be in the detail. Govt still haven't been 💯 clear on how the “trusted research environment” will work. We need a list of every company getting access to the data. We need to know much more about what standards they’ll have to meet to be granted that access
