#RichardDawkins refuses to apply his expertise in evolutionary biology to understanding evolved human nature & the kind of societies it has given rise to, I presume because, like all academics, he is under massive pressure from colleagues in the social sciences not to do so.
The social sciences are modern, secular heirs & in some ways counterparts of the medieval clergy, more interested in controlling society than in understanding it, for which purpose they have created a modern, secular replacement for #OriginalSin, in the form of racial prejudice. 
Human beings are inherently prejudiced about everyone & everything, making it an ideal replacement for original sin, redemption from which demands that one submit to state authority & ideology of post-racial #multiculturalism, DIVERSITY, Inclusion & #AntiRacism.
It’s a moral-supremacist & Orwellian ideology (as was medieval church ideology), which goes to the opposite & equally insane extremes of Nazi ideology of racial purity & supremacy, from which, along with pseudo-nationhood, it derives its spurious claim to legitimacy.
Britain, like ALL so-called nation states, is an Orwellian construct of lies, deceit & a regime of rewards & intimidation; a mercenary patron state deceitfully posing as a nation, in order to legitimise itself, its ruling elites & the immense power they wield & abuse.
Civilisation has always been about the control of society of, by & for its elites, despite now being rationalised in the West as control, i.e. government,
of, by & for the people.
of, by & for the people.
The people are NOT in control, but the elites, centred on academia, which educates & indoctrinates us all (with massive support from the MSM, esp. the BBC), just as it did in medieval times (except there was no MSM or BBC), under the umbrella of the Catholic (universal!) Church.
In order to legitimise their control, these elites must pose as moral authorities, which is now secular, rather than religious, as it was in the past, & to a large extent, based on “inverted Nazism”, embracing the opposite extremes of everything the Nazis stood for.
In some ways our liberal elites are, in my view, more enlightened than “the people” & I share many of their values, e.g. in regard to strict gun control, as we have in Britain, pro-choice in regard to abortion & euthanasia, & abolition of the death penalty.
However, liberal contempt for kinship & race (our largest kinship group), as embodied in the likes of #DavidAaronovitch, I believe to be totally confused & misguided (a pathological overreaction to the criminally insane issue the Nazis made of them.

It is of existential importance to understand human nature & society from an evolutionary perspective, because it reveals why, as historian #AJToynbee observed, ALL successful civilisations (incl. ancient Greece & Rome) ultimately commit suicide, which is what WE are now doing.
Looking back at history, A J Toynbee was able to see how all civilisations, not destroyed by a rival, ultimately committed suicide, but as far as I am aware, he did not realise that his own (British or Western) civilisation was doing the same.
