Alright, time to talk about #MentalHealth. If you haven't followed me for very long, haven't seen my pinned thread, or don't pay attention, it's something that's important to me. If you need a refresher, use the search bar.

With that said, here's my take on Simone Biles. 1/
1. It's a good life rule to not mock someone for having trauma over being sexual assaulted. Great job, guys. You're no worse than leftists who mock unvaccinated people for dying of Covid. When it's gleeful, you're--at minimum--a jerk. Try being assaulted and see how it feels. 2/
2. Did Simone put her teammates in a precarious position? Yes. No obfuscating that. Likely cost them gold. But if she had kept going and continued to fall and flop, we wouldn't have won anything. I'd bet the little money I have that the same people would be trashing her. 3/
3. Will it be a part of her legacy? Absolutely. Her career obit will include how, despite being the greatest gymnast, it all went wrong at the end. Therefore, I wouldn't use the word "celebrated" or insist she "won" the day by any stretch. She and her teammates still lost. 4/
4. Did she do the right thing? Tough to say. Her team seems to have supported her and she didn't think she could have helped them win. That goes back to point two and how they might not have medaled at all.
However, I will SUPPORT her in prayer (also as she's a Christian). 5/
5. She's talked over the last year about the pressure she's felt and how she's had to grapple over the last five years or so with the trauma of being molested by Larry Nassar because, as she's tried to use her platform on the issue, she's had to relive how so many let her down 6/
5 (cont). We all know this that people who seemingly have "everything"--fame, family, money, etc.--have demons and struggles.

For me, it included the breakup, rejection from friends who told me I'd be fine, and claims I was controlled by Satan. I wanted to die and tried to. 7/
6. For Simone Biles, a breakdown came on the biggest stage of her life as the anchor of #TeamUSA and arguably the face of the entire #Olympics . Of all the days to have one, this was the worst possible one. Try walking in her shoes with those experiences. 8/
7. #MentalHealth is no joke, but it's not something you use when it's convenient to get out of stuff, but especially mundane. Take Naomi Osaka's struggles. The idea you shouldn't have to answer media questions after you lose is preposterous 9/
7 (cont). Skimping out on press conferences because tennis reporters are supposedly vicious people or choosing not to do it because you're tired? Give me a break.

All of that to say Biles is different (and which @sunnyright was correct--sorry for flooding your mentions!) 10/
8. To wrap this thread in which I talked in circles, I'll say I have empathy for Simone Biles and think she should decide whatever's best for her ASAP so her teammates can properly fill in for individual events instead of keeping them hanging by a thread. 11/
9. Thanks for listening, fans and haters. #MentalHealthMatters, take your meds, talk to your therapist, engage in self care.

P.S. I'm not here to worship anyone, including Biles. We're all human. The older and more cynical I get, the less I'm into that. Idolatry is bad. 12/12
P.S., #1 -- this is what I was talking about in point 3 as hero worship I'm not exactly keen on and talking like you -- idk -- shouldn't ever have to win anything to be a great athlete. While not everything, it's definitely a big part of it!

Don Lemon goes all-out on the Covid fear porn, mocking and trashing the American people for not properly understanding what the real definition of "freedom" means.

This is what CNN thinks of you. They think the American people are braindead, idiotic rubes.
Don Lemon mocks and shames unvaccinated people and insist masking and Covid restrictions do nothing to infringe on true freedom: "First of all, no one is talking about lockdowns or closing schools. It might have to happen. If you don't get vaccinated...What does freedom mean?"
Lemon, reminding us that he clearly thinks conservatives are enemies of the people as he crudely mocks unvaccinated Americans in an effort to convince them to get vaccinated or risk killing their families.

He said NOTHING here about how dark blue, minority areas have this issue.

D.C. police chief Robert Contee on rising crime in the city: "It's unacceptable in any community...This should be shocking to the conscience of every person in our city. I don't care where you live, it has the attention that it is gotten now b/c it's happened where it happened."
D.C. police chief Contee is BRINGING it: "The justice system we have right now is not functioning the way that it should. The courts are not open. That is a fact. Barely open. So cases from last year...they have not been disposed of, what do you think those individuals are?"
Contee: "This was real for some people, but it has been happening in communities all across the city...You cannot coddle violent criminals...You cannot treat violent criminals who are out here making communities unsafe...What they make require is to be off of our streets."

THREAD: After two opening questions from Don Lemon, the first audience question at the #BidenTownhall came from a Democrat running for school board who asked "what is your message to those parents, educators and school districts" who are concerned about masks and lack of shots
Second question came from a Republican and pediatrician who in part asked: "So what I want to know is what is the White House doing to combat medical misinformation and to restore America's faith in science?" #BidenTownHall
Third question came from a Democrat newlywed who works in the insurance industry, who made the mistake of bringing his wife along as Biden then promptly checked her out and gave that creepy smile.

They asked about vaccine hesitancy in the Black community. #BidenTownHall

Here was Joy Reid promoting the belief that CRT critics are Q-Anon people, saying opposition to CRT and teaching students to hate themselves are part of the "insidious underbelly of the GQP culture war" and "an all-out war for power" that's "steeped in...white nationalism"
After saying people who disagree with her offer "nothing" on policy, Joy Reid brings on the repulsive human being known as Ben Collins to say parents speaking out against CRT at school board mtgs are Q-Anon white supremacist terrorists. Oppose them? You're the enemy of the people
Collins then argues the campaign against Critical Race Theory and the speeches by parents is the latest work of the Q-Anon movement (and not parents genuinely concerned about the mental health of their kids). Reid replies with more strawmen about how the right views history.

#BREAKING: Jeffrey Toobin RETURNS to CNN and will continue as their chief legal analyst despite having masturbated on a Zoom call. Speaking to Alisyn Camerota, he explains that he "wasn't thinking very well or very much, and it was something that was inexplicable to me."
Jeffrey Toobin on whether he's spoken to those who were on the Zoom call: "They were shocked and appalled. I think they realized that this was not intended for them."

Despite NOT losing his job at CNN, he says he's "privileged" that he will be able to "rebuild" his life.
Alisyn Camerota asks Toobin why he didn't "have better judgment" after having covered the stories of Bill Clinton, Eliot Spitzer, Donald Trump, and Anthony Weiner and Toobin's reply?

"Because I didn't have better judgment. Because I'm a flawed human being who makes mistakes."
