מי שחושב שאם רק היה כאן תו ירוק מוקדם יותר היינו במקום אחר כנראה לא היה לאחרונה בארוע או בקניון

צריך תו ירוק, מתוך תקווה שזה יאט במשהו ואולי יביא עוד מתחסנים אבל נאיבי לחשוב שזה היה מביא את הבלימה

הכשל העיקרי הוא בזה שיש עדיין 1.1 מיליון לא מחוסנים >>>

בזבזנו חודשיים יקרים, כי עם שיעור גבוה של מתחסנים מתוך ה-1.1 מליון היינו במקום אחר. הקמפיינים והתוים הירוקים כמעט שלא הביאו מתחסנים

היינו כבר צריכים לעלות מדרגה כמו במדינות אחרות, שם יש דרישה מעובדי בריאות להיות מחוסנים, יש חברות פרטיות שלא מכניסות עובדים לא מחוסנים למשרד, >>>

יש אוניברסיטאות שלא מכניסות סטודנטים ומרצים לא מחוסנים, ואפילו תמריצים כספיים למי שמתחסן:

במקום מגבלות על 1.1 מיליון שלא התחסנו ומסכנים את השאר, אנחנו הולכים למגבלות יותר ויותר נוקשות על מי שדאג לבריאותו בכך שהתחסן וגם על הדרך הפגין אזרחות טובה >>>

Israel: Surge in Delta variant cases

Is Israel in danger of a return to many (>500) critically ill patients? I think chances are low

Yet, some steps should be taken to prevent the surge

And remember that all Covid-19 analyses are true for their time and subject to change

Why many severe cases are unlikely:

1. Pfizer's vaccine is as effective on Delta as on the existing strain in preventing serious illness (tinyurl.com/484bcpm2), Israel leads the world in % fully vaxed (>90% in people 50+ y/o). And evidently, still no rise yet in severe cases

2. In countries with Delta and less vaccines than Israel, there is no increase in mortality:

UK: Delta is ~90% of cases, 46% are fully vaccinated, there is no increase in mortality

U.S.: Delta is ~20% of cases, 44% fully vaccinated, there is no increase in mortality

Thoughts on vaccine effects:

When evaluating the effects of vaccines there are two complementary forms of evaluation:

1. Measuring the direct effects of the vaccine on the individuals vaccinated

2. Measuring the overall impact of the vaccine program on an entire population

פתיחה תייצר יותר מגעים בין אנשים, R יעלה מעל 1 ותהיה עליה במאומתים. מישהו חושב אחרת?

השאלה הגדולה היא מה יקרה לחולים קשה

מצד אחד, החיסונים עובדים ויורידו את מספר החולים קשה החדשים. מצד שני, העליה במאומתים תעלה בסוף גם את החולים קשה

איזו מהמגמות תנצח?

אף אחד לא יודע

כי למרות שהחיסונים עובדים, אנחנו לא יודעים בכמה הם מורידים הדבקות ובכמה תחלואה קשה (80%, 95% או אולי אפילו 98%?)

ואת גודל העליה במאומתים גם אי אפשר לדעת, כי זה תלוי בכמה יפתחו ובאיך אנשים יתנהלו

אז מה צריך לעשות?

קודם כל, לפתוח בהדרגה ולחכות בין צעד לצעד

כי גם אם החיסונים יורידו בטווח הקצר את החולים קשה, נותרו כ-400,000 מעל גיל 50 שלא חוסנו. ובגלל שלמאומת בגיל הזה יש 10% סיכוי להפוך לחולה קשה, להתפרצות תחלואה בלתי נשלטת עדיין יש פוטנציאל להמוני חולים קשה

Israel: Signs of vaccines affecting national pandemic dynamics

Drop in cases & hospitalizations of 60+ y/o in cities vaccinated early

Stronger than in late-vaccinated cities

Stronger than in younger people (only recently eligible)

Not seen in previous lockdown

When trying to identify the effects of the vaccination we’re hampered by the fact that right as the vaccination drive started Israel went into its 3rd lockdown following an unprecedented rise in infections (possibly due to the B117 strain).
