SG Tushar Mehta: today is a very special day. Not only for us but for me. The first-ever counsel i briefed in Supreme Court was Justice RF Nariman.

SG Mehta: Be it comparative study of religions, constitutions or whichever subject, Lordhsip's exceptional brilliance and integrity will be remembered for centuries to come.

SG: I wish your lordship a happy, healthy and fulfilling life ahead and in the third innings of his life.

Sr Adv Singh: To be here as a president of the Bar when Justice Nariman is there is a privilege. We should be grateful to Justice Lodha who recommended the name of Justice Nariman. seven years tenure is not enough. His tenure has brought glory

Sr Adv Singh: Now hopefully Justice Nariman will have time to pursue his passion in this phase of his life. He had a very hectic life as a lawyer and a judge.

Adv Shivaji Jadhav: Justice Nariman, a Parsi priest and a LLM from Harvard will be keenly missed. At the age of 37 he was designated as a senior Adv by then Chief Justice Venkatachaliah and rules were amended to make him senior

Jadhav: Justice Nariman has delivered more than 500 reported judgments and it is known that once the verdict was reserved he did not take more than two or three days to dictate the judgment as he was very sharp

Sr Adv Dushyant Dave, former President of SCBA: I am grateful to CJI to give me an opportunity to bid farewell to one of the most popular judges of the Supreme Court. He has served the country and constitution absolutely brilliantly.

Dave: Justice Nariman was an absolute symbol of a very very fair and compassionate judge who was equally kind to all lawyers and very encouraging to the young members. I am sure younger lawyers have learnt a lot from justice Nariman,

Sr Adv PS Narasimha: there are five areas where you have set an example. We have seen you as a friend, lawyer, judge, and jurist. you have set an example in all these fields. whatever you have taken up, you have given your best to it.

Adv Puneet Jain: as a lawyer it was very difficult to brief his lordship, but as a judge it was very easy to argue before him. Justice Nariman as a lawyer was a completely different person. We welcome him to the bar again.

Sr Adv Ranjit Kumar: It was such a change from a lawyer to a judge. The patience.. everybody was given time to be heard. Around 360 judgments rendered are based on such painstaking research-based subjects. I don't know how he got time to write books, I wish him all the best

Sr Adv Arijit Kr Sinha: In every aspect he is an all rounder. whenever we appeared before him we knew that it was a matter of notice or stay we don't have to labour hard as he was so good with the brief. He told us what the shortcoming was and what was in our favour

Adv Shirin Khajuria: It has been such a pleasure to appear before him especially in taxation cases. You have maintained the glory of this institution.

Adv Saurav Agrawal: Justice Nariman's contribution to IBC law and arbitration has been exceptional.

Adv Alshay Sapre: since rules were amended to designate him a senior, we only hope rules are amended to have him again join the bar

CJI NV Ramana: We just now saw the overwhelming response from lawyers of Supreme Court bar and High Court bar. I thank family members of Justice Nariman, Sr Adv Fali Nariman who are present here with us.

CJI Ramana narrates the academic and legal journey of Justice Nariman: he practiced law for 35 years before being elevated to the bar and was the 5th counsel to be directly elevated to the bar. as a judge of #supremecourt he has disposed of 13,565 cases !

CJI: His jusgments like the one in Shreya Singhal (66A IT Act) has left a permanent mark on legal jurisprudence. Personally i am little overwhelmed at expressing my thoughts. On his retirement i feel we are losing one of the lions of the indian judiciary

CJI: I look forward to his continued contribution to his immense contribution to the field of law.
