@ScottMorrisonMP speech today made me want to vomit. As in for real.
He is dogmatically preaching “live with the virus”.
There is an alternative, but it’s not on offer from this leader, and it never will be.
The reality is, the Doherty model is not the only model, and it certainly isn’t the best.
Not for health, economics, business, freedom, or anything else.
The Australian people have done everything the government have asked of them, to an exemplary standard. A few hiccups are to be expected.
The Australian Federal Government have not done anything asked of them by the people.
Quarantines/Green lane travel.
Vaccines.
They have wilfully neglected the work to improve ventilation/ filtration in workplaces and schools.
Workers everywhere remain deprived of respiratory protection (respirators) from this airborne disease.
Reports of prisons rationing PPE.
The denial of the work required in buildings to make them safe to airborne disease has left so many essential workers vulnerable.
Truck drivers have complained that they have no proper rest stops.
It is outrageous that the work hasn’t been done to solve this.
Instead of caring for workers, giving them the science based tools they need, and building the facilities and services required, we have a government that makes everything a punishment.
Now the same essential workers will be hit hard again with disease, after so much sacrifice.
It makes me sick. It makes me sick that every single ordinary person that has suffered and waited, has always been destined to be let down in the end.
Just a shot in the arm, and then infected. Doomed to take delta home from work to infect the unvaccinated kids too.
Mark my words, when the outbreak starts, people that can work from home, will, because of the fear of the unknown.
It will be the essential workers that have their kids in danger.
If this doesn’t stir your soul, if this doesn’t make you mad as hell, if this doesn’t make you want to fight for something better, I don’t know what will.
@shaz_harro There is going to be a honeymoon period as the high vaccination rate, together with ongoing mask use and school closures take effect.
A sense of confidence will return and further opening up. Preparations for Christmas will begin.
@shaz_harro Case numbers will increase slowly until the opening up occurs. For a short while even after restrictions are loosened all will seem well… and then the slow ramp of cases will begin again.
@shaz_harro If schools go back without adequate multi-layered mitigations, and it seems likely an attempt will be made to do this, children’s cases will skyrocket.
If you can’t save yourself from the first infection, you may avoid a second or third. If you can’t save this generation, you may save future ones from this scourge. #TargetingZero🦠mississippifreepress.org/15715/in-missi…
Please know, that @GladysB did this without ever offering essential workers respirators so that we could get R<1. Never deployed rapid tests to the community. Never in a whole year sorted out ventilation in schools or workplaces.
Decided that all children under 12 and 30% of the eligible population could be left to sink or swim in their own having never even had a chance to access a vaccine!
