This is my wish list for Australia’s future,
#Election2022
In no particular order.
1) lower voting age to 16. If you’re old enough to learn to drive, you’re old enough to vote. I trust the younger generation to make good decisions.
2) free public University and #TAFE education
We were at our best when our dreams and aspirations could become a reality. Ending free tertiary education marked the point in history when we started going backwards.
3) A total ban on political donations. Much of the weakening of our democracy is due to the influence of
donations. Publicly funded elections doesn’t need to cost the earth. Let’s say, theoretically, that each major party was allowed a million per state for electioneering, minor parties half a million, and micro parties 10 thousand.
Guaranteed reduced advertising, but the election
still goes ahead.
4) Truth in media laws. Misinformation has become a cancer across the planet, undermining science, affecting responses to climate change, vaccines, poverty. Time all forms of media looked to be informative rather than aiming for sensationalism.
5) Reform of the economic system to eliminate poverty. If money is earn there, then taxes are paid here. No more offshore tax havens and ‘creative’ accountancy. Set a maximum wage and tie it to the minimum wage. End the perks and bonuses. Social security is possible above the
poverty line.
6) End privatisation of essential services need to be publicly owned and run again. Tie that to taking action on climate change. It’s not impossible, we’d all benefit. Imagine renewable energy owned by the states.
7) A federal charter of #HumanRights. Speaks for
itself. Too many abuses have happened over the past 200+ years. It doesn’t need to continue that way.

I believe a bright future is possible and that hope can triumph over fear.
And just to clarify point 3, banning political donations means an end to representation of political donors, an end to their influence, constituents are represented instead. This also reduces/eliminates corruption. An ICAC only catches people after the act. Prevention is better.

Here’s my prediction if #Dutton becomes Prime Minister.
The rhetoric on China will step up.
We will be at war.
Australian Chinese will be locked up in internment camps aka detention centres for national security reasons.
1/
The Senate will be told they aren’t needed because they are too obstructionist when it comes to getting government legislation passed.
To heck with it, elections will be cancelled - national security grounds cited.
The army will be called out to quell all protests.
2/
Unionism will be made illegal.
Poverty will be more widely entrenched but begging made a crime.
School children will be made to recite an oath to allegiance on a daily basis.

Dear @comcare_gov_au,
I have recently received a response to a #FOI request in relation to the #Comcare investigation into #mould at the #Nauru RPC. Reviewing my original email to yourself in 2018, I feel I may not have made one aspect clear enough.
1/
I would appreciate it if you could clarify whether the incident of a contracted mould inspector (microbiologist) being asked to remove his PPE for the inspection and consequently becoming sick, was part of the @comcare_gov_au investigation into the mould issue

...in the tents at the RPC on #Nauru or was treated as a separate investigation.
The FOI response I received on the 5th of June 2020 in relation to MC00004067, has plainly stated that Comcare never interviewed Dr Cameron Jones, the microbiologist in question.

@JacquiLambie 18 months ago I received a call from a father on Nauru that his 2 year old daughter was non responsive. She had encephalitis. IHMS could not find a vein to intravenously hydrate her. She was intubated in the neck at the hospital. And IHMS obtained a
Specialist report from Australia recommending that this little girl be immediately and urgently transferred to a tertiary paediatric facility in Australia.
We urged the Minister and the Chief Medical Officer to ensure this happened but we weren’t listened to and the doctors weren’t listened to. Instead, four days later while this little girl was hovering between life and death,
