1/5 People at the Polish-Belarusian border try to destroy the barbed wire barricades. They came from the Polish side and held a Polish national flag while trying to cut and remove barbed wire. The barricade was erected by @Straz_Graniczna and the Polish military.
2/5 @Straz_Graniczna and military forces arrested 13 people. 1 Dutch national and 12 Polish nationals. Actions are underway to bring charges against them. 
3/5 The barrier was erected to prevent asylum seekers from entering Poland. Since the end of May, Belarusian dictator Lukashenko has been abusing asylum seekers' hopes for a better life in Europe as political tool against the EU by lifting border controls.
4/5 The EU claims he wants to pay back the sanctions imposed on him. The affected neighbouring countries of Belarus - Latvia, Lithuania and Poland - responded with a state of emergency in and militarisation of the border region.
5/5 In the case of Lithuania, the asylum law has been tightened. A.o. asylum seekers can now be detained for up to 6 months.
