2️⃣ Ayman Mohammed Rabie al-zawahiri, born in June 19, 1951 currently (age 70) in Maadi, Cairo, Kingdom of Egypt (Egypt)
3️⃣ Al-Zawahiri became involved in the activities of political Islam movements at an early age, while still in school, and was arrested at the age of 15 for joining the Muslim Brotherhood. 
💡 The Muslim Brotherhood is one of the oldest and largest Islamist groups in Egypt.
4️⃣ Typically of Muslim Brotherhood members Zawahiri's political activity did not prevent him from studying medicine at Cairo University, from which he graduated in 1974 and received a master's degree as a surgeon .
5️⃣ In 1981, Al-Zawahiri was one of hundreds arrested following the assassination of Anwar Sadat. Initially, the plan was derailed when authorities were alerted to Al-Jihad's (offshoot of the MB) plan by the arrest of an operative carrying crucial information, in February 1981.
6️⃣ President Sadat ordered the roundup of more than 1500 people, including many Al-Jihad members, but missed a cell in the military led by Lieutenant Khalid Islambouli, who succeeded in assassinating Sadat during a military parade that October.
💡Following Islambouli's execution, Iranian Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini declared him a "martyr of Islam".
7️⃣ During one of the hearings in the trial of those accused of assassinating then-Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, al-Zawahiri appeared as a spokesman for the defendants
8️⃣ proficient in English, and was filmed telling the court:"we Muslims believe in our religion and seek to establish the" Islamic State" and the Islamic Society."
9️⃣ Despite his acquittal in the Sadat murder case, he was convicted of illegal weapons possession and sentenced to three years in prison, after his release in 1985, he left for Saudi Arabia where he didn't stay for long before heading to Afghanistan via Peshawer Pakistan.
🔟 In 1993, al-Zawahiri's and Egyptian Islamic Jihad's (EIJ) connection with Iran led to a suicide bombing in an attempt on the life of Egyptian Interior Minister Hassan al-Alfi, the man heading the effort to end the activities of Islamist terrorism in Egypt.
1️⃣1️⃣ It failed, as did an attempt to assassinate Egyptian prime minister Atef Sidqi three months later. The bombing of Sidqi's car injured 21 Egyptians and killed a schoolgirl, Shayma Abdel-Halim.
1️⃣2️⃣ Among the victims were Shayma Abdel-Halim 12 years old her funeral became a public spectacle, with her coffin carried through the streets of Cairo and crowds shouting, "Terrorists are the enemy of God" The police arrested 280 more of al-Jihad's members and executed six.
1️⃣3️⃣ Al-Zawahiri's work can only be described as bloody and reckless as his operations were among the bloodiest in Egypt's history.
