On the day it's officially announced that there's an “epidemic” re violence against women & girls (There are 1.6 million victims of domestic abuse & crimes like stalking, voyeurism & online abuse where eight out of 10 victims are women or girls), @UKLabour deputy leader.. 1/
.@AngelaRayner (in the absence of a yet to be appointed Shadow Minister for Women & Equalities) opts to ignore this damning report but instead focuses on spurious, un-evidenced reporting of a journalist who has been found wanting re his reporting 2/

Time to end the silence on women's rights. A thread. #DontBeADavey

This morning @AndrewMarr9 asked @EdwardJDavey repeatedly "What is wrong with the phrase woman - adult human female?". Davey couldn't even bring himself to say the word 'woman' in response.
Asked about a real woman in his party - @Nat_freespeech who's been banned from standing for any LibDem position - Davey made no response. Still he could only repeat the thought-terminating cliches and mantras taught to him by Stonewall.

This is what erasure looks like. Asked a question about women, or a question about a particular woman, too many politicians dissemble and take refuge in cliches about trans rights. The language we use to name ourselves is being lost, and with it, the ability to discuss our lives.

Andrew Marr: "What's wrong with this phrase? Woman - adult human female?" Ed Davey: "LibDems believe that trans rights are really important because trans people are some of the most discriminated against in our society."
The question was about WOMEN.
Marr re-states his question "what's wrong with woman- adult human female?"
Davey: "I've made it clear what our position is on trans rights, no-one can criticise me for that".
Bampots who can't even say the word 'woman' should not be in politics.
Davey goes on to talk about the 'toxic' debate. It's not a culture war that has toxified this debate - it's the misrepresentation of anyone wanting to talk about women's rights, and shouting us down as bigots and transphobes.

@LRCinfo are "preparing the Labour movement for power". We hope they're not holding their breath. This attack on women defending our rights will drive women away from Labour. We call on them to step away from the slogans and talk to us. #LabourLosingWomen
"We don’t believe the oppression of women derives primarily from our biology". The people at @LRCinfo seem confused. The social and political factors they refer to are part of the history of the appropriation of women's reproductive labour - i.e. sex-based oppression.
"Statistics and personal testimony make clear that trans people suffer appalling violence at home and on the streets and discrimination at work." We oppose violence and discrimination against trans people. Our declaration is about women's rights. labourwomensdeclaration.org.uk
