There's a fascinating and at times depressing sketch of campuses responding to Delta at @insidehighered this morning:

insidehighered.com/news/2021/09/2…
@insidehighered "Colleges without mandates -- located in different geographical regions -- include Pennsylvania State University, which as of Monday reported a 67 percent student vaccination rate..."

Just 2/3rds.
@insidehighered "the University of Alabama... reported that at least 61 percent of students and 73 percent of employees had received at least one dose of a vaccine at its main campus in Tuscaloosa."
@insidehighered "The rate was lower at the [University of Alabama] Huntsville campus: 49 percent for students and 68 percent for employees."
@insidehighered In contrast, when Stockton University mandated a vaccine:

"some [students] were vaccine reluctant and having to take the vaccination to go back to school helped them make the decision to be vaccinated... ”
@insidehighered As of this morning, just over 1,000 American colleges and universities have vaccine mandates, or about 1/4th of the total, according to @chronicle :

chronicle.com/blogs/live-cor…
@insidehighered @chronicle Mandate:
"At Delaware State University, a historically Black institution, all students on campus have complied with the vaccination policy, either by getting vaccinated -- 2,660 students are fully vaccinated, and 276 are partially vaccinated as of Sept. 15 ..."

Flying in the US gives me a sense of a nation struggling to keep going. Flailing, not advancing.
It feels like an exhausted country waiting for something better.
People aren't rebelling much. I have only seen one angry man, wearing a t-shirt designed in bullets and quietly furious at anyone who talked with him.

Gearing up for tonight's ed tech seminar.
The topic: VR, AR, XR.

Most of what I say boils down to go follow @DigitalBodies @mayaig @emorycraig
@DigitalBodies @mayaig @emorycraig Other topics I've set out for XR:
-ethics
-scaffolding learning
-building community in these spaces
-users as creators

Also an interesting museum case study.
@DigitalBodies @mayaig @emorycraig One example to show tonight comes from the great @HardcoreHistory :

@gsdiment This is terrible.

All right, I'll share some updated data.
@gsdiment Where does the #pandemic stand today?

Let me offer some current stats.

Thread.

@gsdiment Btw, I'm working from this #covid19 resources page I launched more than a year ago:

I hope it's useful to other folks.

I wanted to share some quick thoughts about one aspect of the #Cuomo story.

It's about information literacy.

Specifically, it's about reading vs tv watching.

(1/n)
I've been seeing so many Democrats suddenly realize that #Cuomo is a terrible person.

As a native New Yorker, politics junkie, and person of the left, I've been wondering why it took them so long.

(2/n)
After listening to tons of Democrats who adored the man, I started to form a suspicion that it was about media literacy and habits.

Then @pareene and @onthemedia confirmed my guess.

Cuomo fans: tv watchers.
Cuomo critics: readers.

It's 1 pm ET, which means the first #COVedStories has begun.

Greetings to everyone in the instructional design and ed tech space!
Here's our plan.

Over the next few hours I'll share questions about your experience during the pandemic. The fine @gu_ldt faculty, staff, and students put these together.

They include:
-the shift to remote learning
-equity and social justice
-data
-innovation

#COVedStories
@gu_ldt I'll ask each question with a number (Q1), and you can reply in the same way (A1).

Please tag #COVedStories so we can see them all.
