1. Tax initiative: rejected by 64.9% v 35.1% of votes, 23 v 0 cantons.

2. Same sex marriage: accepted 64.1% v 35.9% of votes. (Cantonal majority not needed)

• “Marriage for all” (same-sex marriage allowed)
• Increased tax on income from capital (Not sure Swissinfo’s right to say “capital gains”)

Support down for both. “Marriage” set to pass; “tax” to fail

(1) The initiative to tax income from capital has been overwhelmingly rejected.

Although some votes are still being counted, and the results from some cantons are not complete, a majority of cantons (18.5) has already rejected this.

The General Council (= all @wto members) meets on Tuesday and Wednesday, the last time before the summer break.

It is the top decision-making body below the (in normal times) biennial Ministerial Conference.
