#Peace & #Oppression -
I traveled through a few provinces in the north. We do have peace! You can not deny this. There is no more firing, there is no more bombing, people are no longer nervous about going outside. No kidnapping and you don't have to bribe the officials anymore.
This peace was not achieved through a handshake on a table and there was no celebrations on the streets. This is an uneasy peace imposed on our people through oppression. We only achieved this peace when our oppressors stopped firing. Unfortunately, this is a unsustainable peace.
#Talibans have always been a one Policy government. They are obsessed with security. Hanging, beating, shouting and humiliation is common on the streets. Any nation can bring crime levels to zero with this methods, but will they still be called a civilized nation!
There is hunger everywhere! This does not concern them. According to them, it's the UN's duty to feed our people. Their job is only to provide security and make sure people behave in an appropriate manner and don't listen to inappropriate music. They are incapable of governing.
They drive around like a conquering army with their silly vocal music blasting from their cars "We conquered this province, that province, we beat the Americans" and so on. There is almost no attempt to win heart's and minds. This arrogance really annoys the masses the most.
Women passing a Taliban check point are visibly nervous. They keep adjusting their clothes not sure of themselves. Some women wear the face mask not as protection against the virus, but as means to cover their face. They take it off when they pass the check point. This is sad!
I witnessed a boy of maybe 14 being beaten up by the Taliban for listening to some western music. They smashed his phone on the floor and as he was trying to retrieve it they kicked him in the face. He went around the corner and he kept staring at the phone and the Taliban
This boy just wanted his simcard and memory chip back. An elder managed to convince the Taliban to give the smashed phone back. I watched the boy as he got his phone back and started walking towards his street. Looking at his phone, he had a break down.Crying & talking to himself
You see my friends, we are a poor nation. It costs a lot of Money to buy a phone. He was crying and telling the elder "Choora kaka" Why uncle! That boy has just faced his first real injustice and oppression in his life. He couldn't understand why the Taliban did this to him.
When I was in his age, I didn't care about country or people. I just wanted to play football and do silly things. Boys generally grow faster during oppression. He might join the resistance sometimes in the future. He will be dropping dead his oppressors whilst listing to his music
It is this young men of the cities that hate the Taliban the most. They have only known freedom. Suddenly they have lost everything that was very normal thing to do until a month ago. This is very difficult for them to overcome. They are visibly angry and they stare at Taliban
There are people who are just feed up of war I must admit. They are more concerned about the Hunger understandibily. They say "War is not the solution". I agree to a certain extent, but this uneasy peace bundled together with oppression is not the solution either.
I know my people. They will get fed up of this peace soon. The sound of our guns must match the mood of our people. A guerilla war depends on the willingness of the masses. When we do break this peace, the people will understand that we are only doing it to lift their oppression.
There are some western journalists in #Afghanistan who do not understand our culture and people. They write incorrect information. Just wanted to provide you an Afghan prospective of the current situation. Maybe one day we will achieve peace through a handshake, not a gun!

#Talibans amnesty - Taliban amnesty applies to all the individual who worked for the Republic of Afghanistan. Unofficially it only applies to former members of the army, police, civil servants, journalist and the judiciary. It doesn't apply to Air Force, NDS and special units.
Taliban are actively seeking for former members of NDS and special units with the help of ISI. They have our biometrics. They know exactly who is who, but struggling to locate them. They are fully aware that these people form the foundations of the resistance & will cause trouble
Men joined the army to provide for their families. Their hearts weren't fully into fighting the Taliban. There was the armies fight with the Taliban, then it was the special units fight with the Taliban. Without the special forces, the army would have collapsed even sooner.

#Afghanistan & Opium- We supply 80% of world's opium. It makes up 15% of our economy. The Afghan mafia makes the Mexican cartel look like a bunch of nursery children. They are brutal & deadly. I was part of a unit trained by the British to deal with them & intelligence gathering Image
Opium trade is a lucrative business. The farmers see no other alternative but to grow opium as they can make huge sums of money very quickly compared to growing potatoes or some other silly fruits. #Taliban and the Mafia have a working relationship. Image
#Taliban offer protection to the farmers, farmer's grow opium, the Mafia transfers the opium outside the borders towards Europe, the money returning is shared between the farmer, Mafia and Taliban. Taliban used this money to pay foot soldiers and buy weapons.

#Taliban & Women -
Majority of Taliban fighters are single and spent a lot of time in religious boarding schools called madrassas. They had limited interaction with women through their teenage & early adult life. The society in the south of the country is very conservative.
They never felt the warmth hugs of their mothers or grandmother's. They never were involved in silly fight's with their sister like all boys have at some point with their siblings. This is why they act the way they do. Women comes across like an alien creature to them.
They suffer from inferiority complex whenever a women's stands up for their rights. They might be holy warriors to themselves, to the civilized world they are just a bunch of uncivilised coward's. Women is men's best friend. They have been loyal companion of men through the ages

#TheBattleOfPanjshir How desperate a group of men have to be to search the war museum for working fighting machines. We opened the old containers meant to serve as a make shift museums to our past glorious, looking for anything to wake up so it could fire gain just one more time.
#Panjshir was the safest province of Afghanistan hence the Afghan army didn't have any substantial presence. The men of Panjshir were busy fighting in the four corners of our land. We were like an old rusty boxer called from retirement to face the new enemy at the gates.
Event happened too fast and we were cornered within weeks of #Taliban launching their final offensive. We had no time to prepare and any resources we had were sent to Takhar province to hold off the Taliban advance. Nobody expected Taliban to give a new definition to #Blitzkrieg.
