How to DOMINATE an industry using only two words.

Did you know…
That you could take the biggest content creators on Twitter…

And beat them at their own game?
They might hate me for this…

But they’ll gain a lot more by reading this 👇

>>> A Thread 🧵 <<<
I promised you can do this with two words.

Here they are.

• Positioning
• Awareness

That’s all you need.
Lemme explain how.

But for this we’ll need to take an industry as an example.

Let’s take cold emails as an example for an industry.

Fair?
Here it is:
If we look at the cold email industry we’ll see a few big dogs.

But…
What are they selling?

They’re selling “how to do cold emails”.

And.. Who are they selling to?

They are selling to people who are aware.

They’re aware of a solution called cold emails.
So…
If you would come in and try to sell cold email courses…
The current gurus would eat you alive.

You’re playing their game after all…
And they play it best.

But…

What if you sold the same product…

But with different positioning?
What if you went one step back on the awareness level?

So… people who are looking for clients but are UNAWARE of cold emails being a solution?

Like my audience for example…

What if you sold “a way to get clients”…

And not “get clients with cold emails”?
See the difference?
Awareness level.

So just for fun - an example of how this would work.

Here’s a headline you would write if you were selling cold emails for aware people:

How to send cold emails that get a 79% open rate and generate warm responses that turn into clients.
Here’s a headline you would write if you were selling cold emails for unaware people:

Discover the new way the big agency owners are getting high ticket clients without running ads or using their network.

See the difference?
Same product.
Different audiences.

Also…
You have to understand.
The LOWER on the awareness scale you go - the MORE audience there is.

Consequently the more money there is to be made.

But wait. There’s also this:

The easiest clients to get are at the awareness level the gurus are playing it.

The aware audience.
So…
Eventually you’ll want to position yourself there.

Least amount of work with most amount of aware audience = easiest sell.

But being new…
Sometimes…
You have to work more.

And that’s okay.
But you can do another thing…

You can go ANOTHER awareness level down:
What if you sold to people who aren’t even looking to get clients using cold emails…

At all…

How would that look like?

You’d just have to educate them on the fact they can “make money” using something new to them.

This is the lowest awareness level.
And this means:
Biggest amount of audience = biggest amount of money to be made.

But…

Biggest amount of effort.

And one last thing:
You could segment your audiences more.

Here’s an example…
If you’re selling cold emails you could contact a person like me.

And tell me this: “I’ll teach your audience of copywriters to get high ticket copy clients”.

Which I would be happy to respond to: “sure”.

Because…
People like me sell copywriting.

But not client acquisition.
So if you could solve that part for my audience?

I’d be very grateful.

And I’d happily market you to my audience.

And if you see that it works… you can scale to the moon:
Just find other copywriters with audiences.

Tell them this: “ I did it with @GrammarHippy and it worked.

We got his audience X result.

Do you wanna do the same with your audience?”

And viola. A whole new audience opens up. Which you don’t have to compete on.

Makes sense? Now
Do this:

Use these 4 words to sell anything.

It’s called “the 2-question close”

This works perfectly for people who suck at sales. Like me 👇
I’ve used this 2-question close to sell anything I needed to.

And while it’s not a “full system” that you’d want if you’re selling professionally…

It’s more than enough if you need a “quick fix”.

Are you ready?
Question 1: why me?

Let the prospect talk.
Don’t interrupt.

He’s gonna give you 50% of the ammunition you need to close.

When he’s done talking…

I walked into our office with a huge smile on my face.

My investor was already there.
Looking unhappy.

Apparently it was about a message I sent the night before.

This is not a story about investors.

This is a story of how we broke Facebook and made $67,000 in one day 👇
This is the message I sent him the night before:

“We hit $4,000/day. I’m so happy. It’s a dream come true”.

You see… I’ve never made that much money in a whole month at the time.

And now I made it in ONE DAY.
So I was happy.

But he wasn’t.
Here’s what he told me:
“I’m very disappointed. You think $4K/day is the dream? I guess I should’ve invested in someone else”.

It felt like a knife.
Slicing through everything I ever believed in.

“But it’s freaking FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. In ONE DAY” - I protested.

He wasn’t convinced.

It took me 30 days to get my first 1,200 followers.

Then 21 days to get to 3,000.
But I learned the hard way…

That “good value”…

SUCKS when it comes to getting you followers.

But you still have to tweet it.
Because without it.. your account dies.

First - context:

My account is on Twitter since 2013.
That’s why many don’t believe this:

My first tweet was on August 6th.
That’s 51 days ago.

And it got 0 likes.
Zero replies.
Nothing. Crickets.

It’s painful when you feel like you’re talking to a wall.

But then…
Slowly I started figuring things out.

People suggested to…
• Do paid ads
• Pay for Retweets
• Beg big accounts for RTs

I didn’t do any of those.
100% of my growth here has been organic.

Not a penny spent.
No “small letters”. All clean.

So how did I do it?

Become the James Bond of copywriting…

Using a sneaky little trick…
Which includes…

• Stealing
• Copying
• Bashing

Without feeling guilty.

>>> A Thread 🧵 <<<
You probably already know the saying…

New copywriters write.

While experienced copywriters assemble.

But…

Even experienced copywriters get this wrong more often than they’d like to admit.

And it all starts with one word:
Competition.

Now.
If you ask a newbie what competition is?

You’ll get a danger sign blipping in their brain.

For them?
Competition = red ocean = stay away

But…
They don’t even understand competition.

Hell.
They can’t even say who their competitors are.

Can you? 👇

The number one MISTAKE Gumroad creators are guilty of…

Which could double their sales when fixed…

And it’s…
Drums…

The first button on their sales page.
Lemme tell you why.

Here are some numbers for you.

I am running cold traffic from FB ads.

Our checkout page conversion rate over all funnels is 40-60%.

People on Twitter posting their conversion rates being 2-10%.

How is that possible?!

Good question.
Get this:
Having a button at the top of your page is almost like having an exit button there.

Pretty much same numbers.

But why do I say that?
In order to understand…

Copywriting gurus are lying to you.

They say “use benefits not features”.

They are WRONG.
And because of their dusty by-the-book-techniques…

Your conversion rates suffer.

>>> A Thread 🧵 <<
This is not a click bait.
I mean it.

They’re wrong.
Let me explain why.
But before…

Let’s understand what features are…

And what benefits are…

Simply put:
Features

A list of things that are part of your product or service.

For example:

My service is copywriting.

Features:

• I write quickly
• I write persuasively
• I know how to do research

Those are benefits.
And…
