A completely unique, completely faulty, and all-inclusive "case definition" (aka "inclusion criteria" for data) was invented for CV-19 that no other respiratory virus has ever had.

"Hospitalizations", "ICU Admissions", "Deaths", etc. are all just subsets of the total number of "cases" (aka "positive" test results) - and as such are subject to the same "case definition".

In a Sept. 24, 2020 (last year) press scrum, the Premier noted that approximately 70-80% of "cases" in hospital at that time had NO symptoms.

This was not surprising to anyone paying attention to the fine details.

As with ANY research, studies, stats - AND clinical epidemiology - if you start with faulty inclusion criteria - you end up with faulty (and useless & incomparable) data! #GIGO

If you plot all of the interventions (lockdowns, business & school closures, mask mandates, etc.) on a graph of cases (corrected for testing volumes) - you see that the "case" numbers wax and wane DESPITE what we do - NOT because of what we do.

Factor in #seasonality for this now #endemic virus - and it is clear that "viruses will virus". It is arrogant of humans to think otherwise.

Currently in #Ontario , we have over 21,000 acute care hospital beds.

Only 144 are occupied by people who happen to have a "positive" test result on admission, or in the previous 30 days (or more).

There are well over 5,000 ALC pts. unnecessarily occupying acute care hospital beds at any given time in this province.

...and ALC-occupied beds are what (for many years) has been the ultimate cause of cancelled surgeries, backlogged admission in the ER creating prolonged ER wait times (& EMS off-load delays), etc. - AND are the "hallway medicine" that Ford campaigned on eliminating.

Admissions of pts. BECAUSE OF CV-19 (vs. with a "p+ test result) are a tiny drop in an extremely large bucket.

All other data is mostly a reflection of asymptomatic (aka healthy) pts. - & is otherwise faulty & useless data - thanks to starting off with a faulty "case definition"
