I went for it.

I committed 75 days to the 75 Hard challenge, and it changed everything for me.

LFG!

Thread//
Quick backstory.

75 days ago, I was drinking heavily, barely working out, and fueled by processed food.

I had a friend crush the 75 Hard challenge about a year ago.

He lost a ton of weight, and inspired me along the way.

I wanted that.
What is the 75 Hard challenge?

It is a commitment to complete the following tasks daily for 75 days.

- Drink one gallon of water
- Pick a meal plan and stick to it
- No alcohol
- Workout twice a day for 45 minutes
- Read 10 pages of a book
- Take a progress picture
I tried it last year but only made it about halfway through.

I was about 40 days in and seeing no results, so I quit.

Things that didn't work for me:

⁃Keto
⁃Meal variety
⁃Walking for all my workouts
This time I reflected on what worked for me in the past.

- Sprints
- Intermittent Fasting
- Eating the same food every day

Not rocket science, but this blueprint led to me losing 30 pounds in 75 days.
Sprinting is good for the soul, but it was brutal at first.

I felt like I was tearing muscles anytime I went harder than 75%.

It took about 3 weeks, but I could eventually run at close to 100% with stretching and hamstring exercises.
Almost every day, I ate the same food--spinach and kale with either chicken or egg whites in a low-carb tortilla.

Keep it simple is my motto for food.

(Plus, drinking a gallon of water each day was helping me suppress cravings in between meals.)
And I quit drinking.

The most productive periods of my life have all had one thing in common: sobriety.

Saying you don't drink is a lot of pressure.

People assume that saying you don't drink means you have a problem.
Will I drink again? Probably.

Do I have any desire to soon? None at all.
All the changes were big wins.

I feel better.

I think better.

My wife is happier.

I quit seeing my therapist.

Wins. Wins. Wins.
The challenge is tough, but it forces you to prioritize your life.

To complete 75 Hard you won't have time for bad habits.

In your free time, you will be: working out, reading, drinking water, or going to the bathroom (A gallon of water is a lot!).
TLDR

Success is as simple as keeping commitments you make with yourself.

75 Hard is great practice on sticking to these commitments every day.

Not selling the program, but I would be happy to answer questions for anyone who has them.
And who am I?

I write about team culture, leadership, and positive vibes.

8 years ago, Thrill One told Rob Dyrdek he wasn’t someone anyone would invest in.

Six years later, he sold them his production company and cleared over $100 million... Image
“I had to change the way that I was living to ultimately create the energy to attract the people, knowledge, the everything I would need to grow into the person that I had designed for myself.” - @robdyrdek
Dyrdek’s podcast episode with @ShaanVP and @theSamParr is one of my favorites of the year.

It starts as a conversation about a skateboarder turned businessman and then quickly transitions to Dyrdek explaining how to win at life.

Leaders, avoid these 5 traps:
@MrJacobEspi 1. Overwhelming Your Team With Ideas

Leaders who do this are usually creative who love innovation.

They always have new ideas, and can't help but share them with the team.
@MrJacobEspi Intention: For ideas to excite and inspire the team.

Outcome: They overwhelm the people around them, and their teams are constantly chasing new ideas.

Workaround: Create an idea tank. When you have an idea, store it here instead of sharing it with your team.

63 days ago, I decided to hit reset on a year's worth of bad habits.

I'm going to get vulnerable here, but I'm happy to be in a positive place while writing.

Hopefully, this story will connect and help someone who reads it.

THREAD//
2021 seemed like it was a good year for me:

- Successful career
- A lot of time with my family

But not everything was great:

- Struggling with depression
- Stagnant consulting business
- Stepped on a scale and saw a 20 pounds weight gain

I was developing bad habits...
I'm not really sure how much the people around me knew about what I was going through.

Check-in calls were always appreciated.

I started talking to a therapist.

But I was still in a weird place...
