I used to screw myself around seeking validation for years
And ruin my mental health in the process

I don't want you to do the same

Here's my fast tracked road map on less-known ways of taking care of your mental health

A thread
1. Set up a dedicated time to turn off

I will keep repeating this for my entire lifetime.
Because of the incredible advantages "scheduled off" brings.

You will never know how it feels unless you actually feel how it feels
2. Nature walk

Despite scheduled offs, how do we recharge?

Something that I've been doing since 2012 is daily nature walks. 20 minutes in the evening and 1 hour on Sundays.

NOTHING happens there.
And that nothing, changes EVERYTHING!
3. Reading
People are achieving on the internet. True.

However, I am yet to meet a super successful person who doesn't read.
They may have money.

But the ones who are fulfilled, read.
4. Letting go - so so so important

There is so much power in letting go.
Someone else is trying to let go of their flaws.
And we stay married to them.

Such a tragedy.
5. Food

If only we ate food as if it was a blessing.
Each bite is a privilege.
Each dal rice that you hate is someone's dream.

What we have as food is not boring. It nourishes us.

Once we treat it so, it helps with calming our senses instead of invigorating them.
6. Spending time with yourself - in the journal - by letting it all go

Every night, pour out all your day. And plan for tomorrow.
Every morning, write just 3 pages. Even if you don't have anything to write

There is so much in our minds because there is so little in our journal.
7. Make a commitment to physical health

If there is one poll that will take your mental health to peak, is peak physical health.
Doesn't matter if you can't do it for 60 minutes.
15 minutes a day?
Being "slim" doesn't mean you are fit.
Fitness comes with practice. Period.
People who do not have time make time to raise their new borns.
People with busy corporate jobs still make time to take their dogs for a walk.

Being busy, my friend, means you are not interested.
Sitting in your rooms and having money and internet may make you feel that your mental health is at stake.

But my friend, if you lose it when Instagram and WhatsApp are down, we need to accept that we need to change something.
I also felt it when in March on a trip, my screen time during a day was 6 hours!
6 hours!!!

Now it has come down to 2 - 2.5, but working towards reducing it further.
You can have all the money in the world but if your mind is not at the right place, it won't matter!

Trust me my friend, if your health - physical and mental, is at the right place, everything, everything will fall in place!

And money will follow :)
Recap:

1. Set up a dedicated time to turn off.

2. Nature walk - as little as you can

3. Reading

4. Learning to let go
5. Treating food like blessing

6. Spending time with yourself - in a journal

7. Making a commitment to physical health as well

15 one-liners that give you hope, when you have lost it all 👇

A thread
1. You are just ONE thought away from a happy mood.
Just one thought.

They just don't know better.

Here are 9 powers you have, but you are not aware of them👇

A thread
1. Power to be kind

Anyone can be ruthless, rude and mean.
And call it "my nature".

Anyone who steps down from default, rises up to be a human being who cares.
That is kindness. That is superpower.
2. Power to not speak up

Everyone tells you to speak up

I suggest you not speak up.
Because truth, my friend, is rarely spoken through words.

Truth is what speaks up when words don't.
That, is super duper power!

How to say no

(without sounding rude)

A thread
Hi Nishtha! How are you?

I recently got this text from an ex colleague of a client I was working with.

The client was epic.
However, this partner threw me out of my writing assignment just on call.
Which I made.
After several follow-ups.
I’m usually someone who responds 😊 or 👍 after conversations, however, I didn’t respond to this one.
Why?

Because he would again give me good assignment.
And then say no unprofessionally without me being aware of.

Why do you have to screw up with people again and again?

Everyone thinks kindness is easy, but I think kindness is the hardest thing in the world

Here's why

A real-life story thread
When I was 19, I fell in love.
With only one problem:

The guy VANISHED on the next day of making out.
I called, and got lolled.
I tried connecting, all in vain.
I waited for a closure, because I hadn’t still understood that no closure IS a closure.

21 controversial truths about life
A thread

(Might not be what you expected to hear, but maybe what you needed to hear.)
1. Anger doesn’t change ANYTHING
2. Listening helps, when you want to have a conversation.
Listening is the worst thing to do, if it is the gossip that is being shared.
