He pushed a few people crowding the narrow lane and took the steps leading to a house, the scene of crime.
What he saw made his stomach churn . In his 17 years at Delhi police , he had never witnessed such scene .
Ten bodies were hanging and blindfolded, while another, the eldest family member Narayani Bhatia, 77, was found strangled in a separate room. The rest, including two 15-year-old boys, allegedly used chunnis with religious motifs and cables to hang themselves.
They were gagged and blindfolded, with hands tied. Cotton buds were found stuffed in their ears. The only one found alive in the house was the family dog, Jacky, who had been sent to the terrace.
Bhavnesh Singh (50); his brother, Lalit Singh (45); their wives, Savita (48)
and Tina (42) respectively; their children, Neetu (25), Monu alias Maneka (23), Dhruv alias Dushyant (15) and Shivam (15); their sister Pratibha alias Baby (48) and her daughter Priyanka (33) were found hanging in a circular formation;
Pratibha was hanging a little away from the group. The mother, 77-year-old Narayan Devi, was found dead on the floor in the adjacent room.
Prima facie , it looked like a clear case of murder . But the autopsy revealed no sign of struggle , including for the children
As the police started the investigation , they discovered handwritten diaries and notes that provided step by step instruction for the group on how to go through the act of hanging themselves . But it was not intended to be act of suicide .
It was intended to be act of salvation and they were supposed to come out of this alive and actually prosper once this act was over .
So what really happened ? There are many theories – from involvement of a baba to murder by relatives .
But below is what appears to be the closest truth . Narayan devi’s ( the eldest deceased ) late husband Bhopal Singh was patriarch of this family . He moved to Delhi from Haryana along with his wife and youngest son Lalit Singh . Slowly other family members moved with them .
Bhopal Singh was larger than life character and was called “daddy “ by all. His son Lalit Singh opened a shop of plywood at Burari . In 2004 an incident changed Lalit’s entire life . He was pushed under several sheet of plywood and set on fire .
Although he survived , he lost his voice ( this is important to note ).
In 2007 , his father, Bhopal Singh died of respiratory illness . The whole family was devastated, and a priest was called for Garuda Purana paath (a prayer) for 10 days after the death.
One of those 10 days , the family was doing pooja and suddenly Lalit spoke up ( he had lost his voice 3 years back ).
He said “ Daddy aa gaye “

This was the time when things started to change . Every night they would sit together and pray for 15-20 minutes .
The kids used to tell others in the neighbourhood that this was the time when “ Daddy ke aane ka time hai “ . During these kirtans , lalit would sit in the front . Over the years he had taken the role of Bhopal Singh in the family.
The first mention of Bhopal Singh in Lalit’s diaries is made on September 7, 2007, wherein the notes ask the family to keep his black and white photo in front of them and remember him. “Mann mein dhyan yahi rakho ki Daddy meri purani aadatein chhut jaye.
After that there were continuous instructions for the family members in the diary , in almost scolding tone . They dictated the daily routine of the members, including their eating habits and other mundane activities, for financial and general betterment of the family.
The notes appear to have a major bearing on the way all members of the family lived their lives.
Lalit told his family members that his father’s body possessed him and advised him on how all of them should be living their lives
The things actually started to improve in the family . From one shop they had now 3 shops .

This incident was part of what Lalit wrote in the diary
“ Badh Tapasya “ . Lalit wrote in the diary that he had received instructions from his father

There are five souls who are with me. If you manage to change your views, then they too would be relived . Ypu thought going to Haridwar and conducting funeral will relieve me. I am waiting for Badh tapasaya to be completed .
The family started to prepare for this and actually conducted dry runs before the final day .
The instructions in the diary are macbare to say the least
" Pattiyan achchhe se baandhni hai.. Shunya ke alaawa kuch nahi dikhna chahiye.. Rassi ke saath sooti chunniyan ya sari ka
prayog karna hai.. (Everyone should be blindfolded properly, nothing but zenith should be visible to the eyes. A chunni or a sari should be used along with a rope ),” reads one of the last pages of the diary recovered from the house.

THIS IS THE MOST GUT WRENCHING & UNBELIEVABLE STORY I EVER HEARD -
Disclosure - This was sent to me in ramblings & sometimes incoherent sentences as if drunk so I stitched it together in my own words-
" You might think that I am completely cuckoo or suffering with some deep
mental health issues . You might be correct , in fact not a day goes by when I don't try to self diagnose as to which one am I or maybe I am both ? But since you collect these stories and I have not told anyone about it ever , I think this will serve both our purpose .
So here goes nothing -
" I am 30 now and these incidents started when I was 18 . I am from one the richest and quite influential family of Delhi . My mother , even though I say this myself , is and was always a bitch . She was a famous model of her times and only thing

I asked people at various forums about the paranormal experiences they had - something that had no logical explanation . It did not had to be scary , just inexplainable .
Here are few -
The Obituary- " As a matter of habit , I read obituaries in newspaper. Its fascinating to see how they differ as per the class . The bigger the obituary , the larger is the wealth left behind for family . Also , the rich have the remembrance prayers at fancy places
like chinmaya mission at lodhi road and middle class at local temples etc . Even in death , they differ by class .
Anyways , so I came across this obituary of a family friend. I was sure that my parents already knew about it so I didn't mention anything and forgot about it .

I have been doing HR consulting for 17 years and it’s surprising that the things that establish your credibility at workplace require no skills and minimal effort , yet so many of this generation ignore it -

1) Be in time for calls/meeting - How difficult it is ?
And if you are late once in a while , apologize . CEOs of biggest companies when late for meeting begin with apology .
2) Stick to deadlines - If you commit to a deadline , stick to it . Regardless if it’s to a junior , peer or supervisor . Work deadlines are not Goa plans
That can be moved around as per your mood .
3) You are judged for every output you produce . focus on quality - Don’t deliver sub par output in the name of internal deliverable , first draft etc . So many people think just because it’s internal deliverable and not client facing

NEXT TIME THINK BEFORE GOING TO DELHI HAAT ( long thread but it might just save you )

We were deep inside Sanjay Van forest of Delhi. Tears rolled down the eyes of Deepak , as he blindfolded her and tied her to the tree. “ This is the only way to save my daughter “.
PI held him tight - “ I can’t help you if you don’t tell me everything from the beginning . When did all of this start “ . Deepak sat down under the same tree where he had tied her.

He wiped his tears - “ It was a Sunday just like any other . Me , wife and my daughter Divya
First went to Sarojini Nagar market to buy ek turi ka lahsun ( single pod garlic ) for my mother’s knee pain . It was Divya who found it for her grandmother , it’s only available at 1-2 places in entire Delhi . She loved her so much
Then we went to INA market

NOBODY BELIEVED THE STORY OF MY SCARS , WILL YOU ?

I have 10s of these scars and this is the story of these scars Image
Deepak and I grew up together . We were born in the same colony , went to the same school and were always together . I was 1 year elder to him but we were pretty much joined at the hip .
When we were around 10 , Deepak’s parents were expecting another kid .
I still remember the day Sneha was born . Deepak’s dad came to give us sweets in the morning and in the evening , they were sobbing at our house . Within few hours of birth , somebody had bitten off her finger . Yes , in the hospital . With everyone around
