Bob Ney: I know a thing or two about the Justice Dept, having had my own trials & tribulations. I was never indicted. In my case, we knew they wouldn't go with an indictment b/c they didn't want to go to a jury trial. (con't)

Bob Ney: You always have the option of a plea deal. It's easier to do a plea deal, as I did, before you're indicted instead of after being indicted. They indict only when they know they have a case. In Fortenberry's case, he's already been indicted.

Rick: Colin Powell passed away due to complications of COVID.
Bob Ney: He had a very weak immune system; some of the anti-vaxxers are asking what good it did him to get two COVID vaccinations. The regular flu could have done extreme damage to him, frankly.

Bob Ney: Trump's statement about Colin Powell is not presidential. Is it even human? To say such things about a person who just passed away. Powell left the Republican party & supported Joe Biden for President. Powell did what he thought was good for America.

Bob Ney: Colin Powell said publicly the one thing he regretted was being mislead abt Iraq & then talking to the United Nations about it. He regretted that tremendously, & that's what Trump jumped on. Out of all those involved in Iraq, Powell was probably least responsible

Bob: China has intentionally chased unfair trade policies, technology transfers--legal or not, etc. They've manipulated the entire thing. With China, if you give them a little, they step on us.

Bob Ney: Lucent Technologies came into my office & said, "Bob, just think how many Americans will have jobs if we can sell just one telephone to every person in China." Look what's happened to Lucent now.

Bob Ney: Does anybody think that those millions of products that came into the US from China were accidentally sent here? Melamine in pet food, toys with razor blades in them.
