In 2018 it was clear governments didn't have consensus on how much CO2e we could release and give ourselves a 50:50 probability of staying below 1.5°C of warming. Was it 7 or 10 years worth, at least then current rates? 3 years later and CO2 ppm is way up.

Our governments are now invoking three fairy god mothers to save us. Firstly, private industry will do it voluntarily. Secondly, magic new tech will save us. Finally we will have massive extraction of CO2 - negative emissions. They ignore the fact all signs have got worse. #COP26

When did the industrial revolution and large scale CO2e emissions begin? What is our baseline? 1850 at ~285ppm or 1750 at ~277ppm?
That 100 year gap is 3 years CO2 rise today.
