#ClimateActionNow implies that we should all act now to do what we can, bring reasonable about it. We can check what fossil fuel we could stop burning, or at least reduce burning. And reduce its use.
The best way of reducing GHG emissions is by changing personal behavior by changing our routines. Switch from a car to a e-bike, walk to the shops, review all the uses of electricity at home and switch off unnecessary uses.

Note: This is NOT an effect of the rollout of the COVID mRNA vaccine to healthcare workers in Leeds, followed by the general population.

Nope. 11 months' miscarriage rate above the +2SD control line... it must be climate change.

#ClimateActionNow. #Placentagate. Image
I was right! Thank God. I thought for a moment it could be all those nurses being coerced to take an experimental mRNA gene therapy in early pregnancy with no safety data at all.

Instead it was just global cooli-warming.

Note that the data source for this graph will not be released. If you want to confirm it, please put in a FOI to Leeds teaching hospitals trust.

#Budget2023 and #NetZero a thread. The UK is lagging behind in its commitment to achieving a drastic reduction in GHG emissions & protecting us against climate change.
#Budget2023 has an industrial strategy. However, it is clear that it will be insufficient to meet the requirements of #NetZero in the right place, in a timely manner in order to reach the target by 2040, not 2050. We are in war-time crises of an unprecedented kind.
Russia has been waging a cyber war against the West for at least 10, if not 15, years. Now due to #Brexit, #COVID19 , & #WarInUkraine, prices, especially energy & food, are spiking, but the Tory govt is either inadequate or absent in response.

We have blindfolded statues all over the world after the shocking indifference that has received the latest @IPCC report. We are on a #ClimateEmergency and governments should act accordingly, instead of acting as if this is some nuisance.

We need to talk about nature… 🌿

Please, please don’t be one of those people who watch a show like Wild Isles, think how beautiful nature is and how sad it is that we’re losing it at an alarming rate, but then not do anything about it!

Here’s how... 🧵
There are dozens of things individuals and businesses can do to support nature’s recovery and help tackle ecological collapse and biodiversity loss.

And some of those things are really quick and easy to do.

Here are just a few of them…

A plan created for the people, by the people of the UK – a vision for the future of nature, and the actions we must all take to protect and renew it. Add your voice here, takes 10s:

The #AR6 #SYR is groundbreaking in its examination of issues of equity and climate change. For the first time, the report emphasizes the unequal historical and ongoing contributions, and differential vulnerabilities within and between nations/regions/peoples. (1/n)
The report highlights that climate change has been driven by unsustainable energy use, land use, and consumption patterns across regions. Unequal contributions have arisen due to differences in countries' activities, and some have contributed far less than others. (2/n)
Vulnerable communities who have historically contributed the least to climate change are disproportionately affected, both in terms of who is impacted and the severity of impacts. This stark reality underscores the need for fair burden-sharing. (3/n)

💥How to lie with charts.💥There are myriad ways to lie with statistics and graphs, but here is one of the most common tricks.

Look at this chart of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Looks startling! Can you identify the trick?

(Now, see next tweet)
It's the manipulation of the Y-Axis! Rather than starting at 0, it starts at 260.

Now, the same data, same chart... with Y-Axis starting at 0.

Not so impressive!

Climate Scam people use this trick a lot.

#ClimateChange #globalwarming
Or, you can make the growth look the LEAST sensational by making the Y-Axis range larger!

Now, CO2 looks like a joke! 😆

I tweeted this a couple of days ago. People who profess to be concerned about the climate, I'm talking to you. I don't care about those other people, the crazies. It's just us believers here. Do you want #ClimateActionNow?
Then why aren't you asking for it by name?
2. By no stretch of anyone's imagination is building solar panels and wind turbines #ClimateActionNow.
That is manufacturing action now, with a promise that in a decade it will take away 40% of our emissions then.
It is fossil fuel consumption now. Empirically, measurably, now
3. If #ClimateActionNow has any meaning whatsoever it means "reduce emissions now" and since 100% of all emissions are in aid of some objective within our economy, slowing speeds and reducing demand for things is climate action *now*. The rest is all, also 100%, energy use now.

At the close of #COP27 in Egypt, Mary Robinson remarks on the outcome:

“In a year of multiple crises and climate shocks, the historic outcome on loss and damage at COP27 shows international cooperation is possible, even in these testing times.”

🧵 1/5 #LossAndDamage
“Equally, the renewed commitment on the 1.5℃ global warming limit was a source of relief. However, none of this changes the fact that the world remains on the brink of climate catastrophe.”

🧵 2/5 #COP27CoverDecision #COP27
"Progress made on mitigation since COP26 in Glasgow has been too slow. Climate action at COP27 shows we are on the cusp of a clean energy world, but only if G20 leaders live up to their responsibilities, keep their word, and strengthen their will. The onus is on them."

What if nobody in America got anything new next year?
Would the world end?
Would we be plunged into abject poverty?
Nobody loses anything, just nobody gets anything new.
Could we survive?
Coz out that way is #ClimateAction . All this other crap is advertising and capitalism.
2. We use oil to manufacture and transport goods.
We use oil to mine metals.
Manufacturing and transportation are, together, over half of our total energy consumption. Both processes are skewed heavily fossil powered.
3. BTW here's my source for energy consumption by activity. Lawrence Livermore. Pink boxes are energy consumption, orange box is energy transformation which goes on to pink boxes. Pretty colors on left are sources. Pre Covid, this particular chart, but it hasn't changed much.

Forests are important. Here’s why🧵 1/n

- make shade & cool the surface
- capture CO2
- purify the air
- make clouds & rain
- prevent drought
- prevent flooding
- prevent erosion

2/n. Forests act as stabilisers for earth’s climate. They’re essential for our survival. And they’re under extreme threat.

@IrishRainforest @GeorgeMonbiot @GretaThunberg @gringreen @andypic @dwnews
3/n. Our ecosystem, the one we rely on survival for, relies heavily on forests. Our farmers rely on the steady rains forests bring.

Ironically agricultural expansion drives almost 90 percent of global deforestation.

Just finished @billmckibben's 1989 @NewYorker essay THE END OF NATURE (took me a few hours, split up over the weekend).

Written the year after I was born, it demonstrates how much of the science of #ClimateEmergency has been known for decades...🪡🧵1/10…
Every Bill McKibben text is the Very Best of creative non-fiction, but this piece hits hard more than 3 decades later:

"As long as the desire for endless material advancement drives us, there is no way to set limits.

If our way of life is ending nature..." 2/10
" is not radical to talk about transforming our way of life."

I was moved by how close this is to @antonioguterres' statement just 3 weeks ago that it's those pursuing fossil fuels, not climate activists, who are the "dangerous radicals". 3/10
