THREAD: Jesse Farmer founded his first business, a computer repair shop, while still in high school.

The year was 1998:
After graduating from high school in 2002, he studied Math at University of Chicago.

It was there he met his future co-founders.
Together they built Beehive, a book exchange app for University of Chicago college students.

The project was successful, being used by 2/3rd of the campus, but was never monetized or managed like a commercial project.
Jesse has since gone on to found several profitable businesses such as Dev Bootcamp, a software engineering bootcamp that was acquired by Kaplan, as well as Everlane, an ethical clothing brand.
We spoke to Jesse about his early life and career:
On Growth Hacking and co-founding Everlane:
On founding DevBootcamp and his mistakes along the way:

THREAD: Ranking on the second page of Google's search results may be worthwhile after this recent Google update.

Here's the Google update:
On October 14, Google announced that continuous scrolling will be coming to Search on mobile for US-English queries: blog.google/products/searc…

What is continuous scrolling?
When you reach the bottom of a set of search results on your phone, you won’t have to tap to go to the next page.

Instead, the next set of results will automatically load so you can continuously scroll down to see more information.

How will this impact SEO?

Github increased paid conversions by 61% when they started recommending plans based on preferences. 🤯

Thread 👇
Every user is different, so don't show them all the same pricing options. When Github started recommending different plans to different users, they saw a crazy 61% increase in paid conversions.
After a user creates a free account, they are asked a few simple questions designed to ascertain the number of people who will be on the plan and the features that they'll want to use.

UPDATE: Facebook will count 1 person as 2 people on its platform. People != Accounts.

Here are more details:
Last week, Facebook said they will "change the way they count people".

One person will be counted as 2 people if they have separate Facebook and Instagram accounts.

UNLESS that person have explicitly linked their account in Facebook's "Accounts Center".
Previously, Facebook tried their best to count 1 person as 1 person.

"If someone used the same email address across their Facebook and Instagram accounts or accessed both platforms from the same device, we counted them as one person when they interacted with ads."

THREAD: The world's fastest startups are working on just ONE metric.

Forget Ads, CPC, LTV or any of that jargon:
The most important key metric is TTV.

Let's dig into this.

Time to value. i.e, the time from when a customer invests into your product "by signing up" to the time they get the outcome (their pain solved).
This travel time needs to be AS short as possible.

This is how the best are doing it and how you can too.

Tip: Hunters can still amplify your Product Hunt launch. Start building relationships to get an added boost when you go live.

Thread 👇
There was a time when getting a popular hunter to hunt your product was a big deal. That pretty much went out the window when Product Hunt stopped notifying hunters' followings when they hunted a product.
But the folks at Demand Curve have confirmed that hunters can still offer a significant boost. Products posted by popular members tend to get fast-tracked to the front page, which is a big deal when competing against hundreds of products on any given day.
