Flow is a "...state of focused concentration on the performance of an activity, in which one dissociates oneself from distracting or irrelevant aspects of one's environment.β
Certain regions of the brain down-regulate, brainwaves slow, and a cocktail of chemicals are released.
Flow's benefits include improved: focus, productivity, performance, motivation, creativity, imagination, emotional regulation, fulfillment, happiness, courage, and unity.
Also, decreased awareness of self-judgment and social evaluation.
So how do you get into flow state?
Practices that can make flow more accessible:
- Eat well, exercise, and sleep
- Be very familiar with the task
- Practice being in flow (try activities like table-tennis, swimming, and rock climbing)
- Create a pre-flow routine like an athlete
- Meditate
- Visualize
Prepare your environment for flow:
- Plan your day
- Carve out a big block of time
- Choose a high-energy time slot
- Remove distractions
- Have all the tools handy
Flow environment (cont...)
- Choose a task that you love
- Choose a task that has high stakes
- Make sure the task is challenging but doable
- Make sure the task requires creativity
- Break it down into multiple pieces if feedback isn't immediate
Get into the flow:
- Know your goal but focus on the task
- Listen to focus music
- Do your pre-flow routine
- Relax your eyes
- Straighten your posture
- Focus on your breath
- Start the task
- Don't verbalize in your head
- Don't talk with anyone
- Don't try too hard
- Have fun
And when you're done flowing:
- Journal about it
- Evaluate what worked and what didn't
- Iterate
Trouble getting in the zone? You might be over-stimulated (anxious, stressed, etc.): Slow down your nervous system. Try breathing, taking a break, etc.
Or you might be under-stimulated (bored, depressed, etc.): Move your body, drink water, then set a more challenging task.
Group flow is also a thing. Make sure the team:
- Has shared goals
- Knows the risks
- Has a sense of familiarity with each other
- Participates equally
- Has constant communication
- Listens closely to each other
-And individuals say "yes" a lot

Every user is different, so don't show them all the same pricing options. When Github started recommending different plans to different users, they saw a crazy 61% increase in paid conversions.
After a user creates a free account, they are asked a few simple questions designed to ascertain the number of people who will be on the plan and the features that they'll want to use.
UPDATE: Facebook will count 1 person as 2 people on its platform. People != Accounts.
Here are more details:
Last week, Facebook said they will "change the way they count people".
One person will be counted as 2 people if they have separate Facebook and Instagram accounts.
UNLESS that person have explicitly linked their account in Facebook's "Accounts Center".
Previously, Facebook tried their best to count 1 person as 1 person.
"If someone used the same email address across their Facebook and Instagram accounts or accessed both platforms from the same device, we counted them as one person when they interacted with ads."
Tip: Hunters can still amplify your Product Hunt launch. Start building relationships to get an added boost when you go live.
Thread π
There was a time when getting a popular hunter to hunt your product was a big deal. That pretty much went out the window when Product Hunt stopped notifying hunters' followings when they hunted a product.
But the folks at Demand Curve have confirmed that hunters can still offer a significant boost. Products posted by popular members tend to get fast-tracked to the front page, which is a big deal when competing against hundreds of products on any given day.
