Earlier this year, @UCLAlatino released a report finding that #Latinas have faced the biggest drop in labor force size of any demographic group over the last year.
They must be a focal point of pandemic recovery efforts to ensure #LatinaEqualPay. (1/4)
Research finds that before the #COVID19 pandemic, the number of Latinas in the U.S. labor force was projected to ⬆️ by 25.8% from 2019-2029– almost 9x the growth of white women. (2/4)
Yet, from March 2020 - March 2021, the number of Latinas in the workforce dropped by 2.74%– the biggest drop in labor force size of any demographic group during that time. (3/4)
Policies geared directly to support women in the workforce are needed for #Latinas to have true economic opportunity. The #AmericanFamiliesPlan must support those most vulnerable to employment & economic instability.
In observance of #LatinaEqualPayDay, @UCLAlatino stresses that Latinas are fundamental to a healthy, productive national workforce that invigorates the U.S. economy. (1/4)
Yet on average, #Latinas see over $1.8 million in lost wages over a 40 year career, & they are only paid 55 cents for every dollar that a white man is paid. (2/4)
The #wagegap is even larger for Latina mothers. In CA, Latina mothers only make 36 cents for every dollar made by white, non-Latino fathers. The #motherhoodpenalty is worse for #Latinas. (3/4)
