“the Labor Party has a plan to legislate” - prime minister Scott Morrison on the federal opposition.
this pilot election campaign launch is “a whole of ecanomy plan”. Sounds like Liberal Party polling is showing that their economic management lies still, despite all evidence to the contrary, are believed. Thanks, corporate media.
we’re gunna chieve [bodgy targets set by land-clearing accounting tricks]!! shouts Morrison. Today is about the plan, we’ll release the modelling later, he says.
foreign leader name-drop. Always a tell.
he is doing the same thing here as with the vaccine rollout, claims Morrison. Sounds like vax failure rollout polling has turned a corner, hence the launch today.
having said he will not release any modelling, Morrison claims he is “focusing on the how”. No journalist will attempt to square that circle.
handouts to the regions are “investing”. Drink. “We are past the by when and the if and now that we’re into the how” (sic) says Morrison.
it is all about who do you trust and that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day says Morrison, channeling Howard.
he calls internal Coalition hatreds “a mark of authenticity”. Shouts plan a few more times. Remember he not 5 minutes ago implied that Labor *passing legislation* is a bad thing. He, Morrison, announcing a plan is the superior governance - a legal and logical impossibility.
like ministers telling journalists that corrupt vote-buying is just politicians making and keeping promises, Morrison is pitching his vast failures and the Coalition parties catastrophic climate vandalism as success. With a co-operative media, this should work - it has so far.
we are at beached blow fish super-gulping motor-mouth stage of the presser.
regular reminder that Liberal and National Party politicians prioritise salving their voters’ consciences over the future of humanity. All this is designed to tell Coalition voters they are not gigantic fuckwits.
“we are not starting at the start” - Scott Morrison.
“states and territories environmental laws” drink.
Jane Norman, one of the entire generation of journalists who have no concept of Labor government economic management credentials at all, opens ABC News coverage by repeating, verbatim, what Morrison said - without attributing the words to Morrison.

he is not legislating it because 1/ he can’t; and 2/ he doesn’t want to.
1. The government does not have the numbers to legislate their re-announced existing inadequate target because of all the Coalition climate denialists.
2. Morrison is leader of the denialist factions.
when ousted former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull tried to legislate a target, and despite being cheered on by the press gallery, he failed. He was then taken out by the climate denialists in the Liberal Party room, led by Scott Morrison.
Abbott also mobilised climate denialists in the Liberal Party room to oust Malcolm Turnbull, in 2009. He then repealed the legislated Labor emissions reduction policy, a policy which lowered emissions. It is an existing Abbott era target that Morrison re-announced yesterday.
no we didn’t. Scott Morrison announced an unlegislated target and asked assembled journalists to tell voters he has a plan. The media, collectively, complied. This entire exercise is election campaign comms and its sole purpose has already been achieved.
Morrison will now tick “announce target” off his to-do list and move on, irregardless of a few serious climate policy journalists crying into their cups. That’s politics mate, he will say. All politics is local. He does not care about the human cost, not yours, not ours.
he is a crash or crash through megalomaniac with messiah complex and painting him as having subtlety or nuance is self-serving first-order bullshit. Cosying up to him failed. Todays announcement is another policy failure. All press coverage of Morrison is catastrophically wrong.

I block snitchtaggers. Pls google unfamiliar terms.
lol ABC headline: “the Nationals are holding a Party room meeting to hammer out the Coalition climate plan”.
🔮Morrison takes an unlegislated target to Glasgow. Coalition climate policy remains coal expansion. Coalition politicians use public money to buy votes for their candidates. Not news. This is business as usual.
oh and entire press gallery obediently and uncritically amplify and legitimise this latest federal Coalition election campaign strategy. Also not new.
he can take a bowl of word salad to Scotland with or without the Nationals. Giving public money to client donors and local vested interests is not climate mitigation.
good morning from unceded Darug lands☀️today on #Insiders are Guardian politics corro Sarah Martin, murdoch politics editor James Campbell and 9fax economics corro Shane Wright. The interview is with Liberal Party backbencher Katy Allen.
opening spiel is “crunch time for the Nationals” who are being increasingly referred to as “the junior Coalition partner” these days. #Insiders
what is the Morrison perspective, skip? Well, he “needs” the Nationals to lock in behind him for when he goes to Glasgow. There is no evidence for this claim. Federal Liberal Party climate policy wreckers have been backed by media and re/elected for decades. #Insiders
good morning from unceded lands of the sovereign Darug people☀️today on #Insiders are murdoch politics editor Sam Maiden, ABC NSW politics corro Ashleigh Rapier, 9fax politics corro Jaqueline Maley and ABC politics editor Andrew Probyn. The interview is with Ed Husic.
opening spiel: “Gladys Berejiklian gone under a lots of corruption”. What’s the Morrison perspective, skip? Morrison loses a crucial ally. Morrison wanted clear air for his border announcement. Morrison Morrison Morrison #Insiders
