According to Roland Marchal in this IV on @France24, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan travelled to Cairo 10 days ago.

We now have a fairly clear picture of the events leading up to this coup in Sudan
@FRANCE24 On 21st September there was an attempted coup. Involving tank commanders. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September…

Then on 17th October. Six days after fighting flared up in Ethiopia, General al-Burhan visited Cairo.
@FRANCE24 During this timeframe there was also talk of tanks being seen near the border with Ethiopia in Sudan.

At the end of September US Envoy Feltman visited Sudan. >> state.gov/visit-of-speci…
@FRANCE24 9 days later on 11th October, @reda_getachew issued his statement declaring that the ENDF had started an offensive on all fronts.

There are unconfirmed reports that this statement was prompted by a significant defat of TPLF forces in West Tigray, moving towards Sudan.
@FRANCE24 @reda_getachew Following this statement TPLF forces significantly stepped up their offensive operations in Amhara and Afar, seeking to break through towards the Addis-Djibouti road for a second time.
Six days after the TPLF Eastern Offensive intensified, General Burhan visited Cairo.

And roughly three days later, US Envoy Jeffrey Feltman was dispatched once again to Sudan to talk to Burhan, arriving last Friday, October 22nd.
These two Envoy Feltman visits to Sudan in such a short timeframe suggest that the US has been aware of these coup plans for some time. And importantly, if this is promoted by Al-Sisi which seems likely, possibly in support of the TPLF, opposed the development.
Feltman departed Sudan on October 24th and the coup happened yesterday October 25th. PM Hamdock was placed under house arrest, and was unable to lead the Sudan delegation to COP26. Had he attended he might have met with US President @JoeBiden.
And it makes timing sense that this may have been the reason for the coup timing on October 25th, the date the delegation was due to depart. I understand PM Hamdock was not the only member of the delegation who was not allowed to leave.
Finally there is another strange timing coincidence in all of this which I do not know what to make of. On October 2nd, the day that Jeffrey Feltman was first dispatched to visit Burhan, and prevent a coup, Egypt was announced as the nominee to host COP27. reuters.com/world/africa/e…
It is becoming increasingly clear that their are links between the TPLF's dirty war in Ethiopia and the Egyptian opposition to the completion of Ethiopia's GERD dam.

And it appears that Egypt is supported in this endeavour by Saudi Arabia.
The threat of an exponentially more dangerous war in East Africa now looms.

A @nytimes Columnist is concerned that America’s FP is being mismanaged - a general conclusion with which I concur. But his analysis is excessively simplistic and leaves out both Ethiopia and Climate Change, and therefore also shallow.

@nytimes Biden is about to arrive in Scotland - and in his delegation are (as I understand it) Al Gore, Barack Obama, John Kerry and most probably Hillary Clinton - credited by some with saving Paris in 2009 also as she is already in the UK it seems.
According to reports they plan to arrive by motorcade with the M8 Motorway from Edinburgh to Glasgow being temporarily closed to enable it.

If they all do turn up every democratic Presidential Nominee since 2000 will be there. An unprecedented display of commitment.

#COP26 has incoming rain.... lots of it.

Yellow heavy rain warnings through Thursday.
And it's not finishing on Thursday, just perhaps getting a little lighter. Here's a 10 day forecast for the United Kingdom.

#Cop26Deluge
The cause of the rain is an atmospheric river coming from the mid Atlantic, followed by some storms. This 10 day precipitable water/energy animation shows airborne water flows.

This is very very concerning. The United States @StateDept needs to use its influence with both the Sudanese and Egyptian military on this.

There is almost certainly a a link between this, the GERD, and the war in Northern Ethiopia.
